How to get out of a lease.

I have a 2k2 civic coupe si-g veloz (has full oem kit,all options, ext. warrenty, and all undercoating/rust/cloth protection), and wanting a maxima for many years (3 years) and after testing drive the maxima....4 times, I really want the max. But Im stuck in the lease with the civic for 48 months, Ive had it for about 8 months, and have about 60,000kms on it. Here are my options:

(1) trade it in to nissan, lose about 6000$
(2) private sell for 21,500$, lose 4000$ maybe more
(3) have someone take over the lease and pay 3000$, so we lose 3000$

If you have any opinions/suggestions, they are welcome.

"Accidently" leave it parked with the doors open and the keys in it.

Oh, you said it was a Civic? Sorry, can't help you there.

Well...

Get out of your car. **** it up. Break the windows, steering wheel, etc. Strip it. The seats, the stereo, EVERYTHING. Throw it in a canal. Call your insurance company and tell them you think your beloved Civic was stolen.

In no way whatsoever am I encouraging these actions. I would NEVER do it and I do not think YOU should do it either. But I think it would be a good way to get out of a Lease.

I hope you have GAP insurance. Most people are upside down on the cars (meaning that you have negative equity on your car). If you would crash or if someone would steal your car, your insurance would only pay wholesale book on your car. If your going do it the right way, get GAP insurance.

Talk to the dealer. Maybe they will have a buyout option. But it will cost you a little more than it would have, but if it ends it it might be worth it to you.

most dealers will take back the lease, but the fine print says they will apply vaseline to you butt and rape you a new hole on penalty fees UNLESS you buy another car from them.. then they usually wave the fee.

i've been waiting for my lease on the maxima to end for the past two years. Got some plans in mind, only 354 days left... hahahah!

60,000km in 8 months!!!

How many km do you have on your lease? Many 3 year leases don't even have 60,000km, nevermind the 270,000 you're heading to in 3 years. I hope you have a real good extra mileage deal.

As for getting ride of it, you're going to have a tough time finding someone to take it with those numbers, not without some serious discounting that is.
