It's all in the 60 foots. Lower 14s were always possible with his car seeing his trap speeds were in the 94-95mph range. A 2.1 60 foot is flat out incredible for a fwd car in street tires. I wish my track hooked like that. Congrates Mad Max.

Believe me, this track NEVER hooks like this. There is a reason DeSoto is known to the locals as DUMPSOTO!
But, I should give them some credit now as the track has just been bought by someone else and they seem to be cleaning their act up. They actually used VHT there yesterday!
I posted in the 5th gen forum (kinda hidden) the details of the run:

Im sure that this time will be duplicated and/or passed by Spring when all the nothern guys get back to the tracks.
I believe Jeff K ran a 14.32@95.XX mph in his 95 on drag radials with a 2.1 60 foot. You're the fastest, he's the quickest. He did have a few runs in the 96.XX range, but his ets weren't near as good. My best trap speed was 96.5mph with a 15.00 run. I'm still trying to figure out that run.
Did you notice other cars running pretty good ets?
How do you stage? Shallow or deep? I never knew anything about staging until I read a write up in Mustang and Fast Ford. By simply shallow staging, you can actually get a 6"-7" roll before the timing device is tripped and drop .1 from your 60 foot. I'm gonna try that in the spring. There is so much that I've done and learned since my last time out in September. AND you're not helping things either by getting some awesom ets.

Yes...on that day many cars were running great ET's. You see, down here in Tampa, were dont get many days that are 50 some degrees in the middle of a sunny day. The sun keeps the track warm and relatively sticky, while the cool air obviously helps times/trap speeds. So, its the norm here to have the biggest crowd of the year on the coldest days. That way we can all get our good slips that we can brag about, but we can only run once a year
We go back in July and run 0.5 second slower
But, Ill take lousy track weather in exchange for no snow!As far as staging, I usually just stage normally. Meaning, I fully light the second lamp. Ive tried deep staging (youre that much closer to the finish line...buts its hard not to red light) as well as shallow staging. All in all, I prefer to be a bit on the shallow side, rather than deep. My timing just seems better that way.
Larry-
I stand corrected about Jeff Ks runs. His best is a 14.36@95.6mph with a 2.16 60 foot with a drag radials. His run was made in July 2000. His best trap speed ever was a almost 97mph.
These VQ motors are really strange sometimes. Between runs, with similar 60 foots, my VQ's trap speeds could vary from 94mph to over 96mph. It looks like Jeff experienced the same trap speed differences. What's your car's best trap speed?

I have noticed a sometimes similar variation in trap speeds. But, 90% of the time, they are pretty close.
My best trap speed is 96.81 mph, with a bunch of 96.6-96.7 runs. Strangely enough, my best ET run only dropped the trap speed to 96.62. Usually, big ET improvements are found to lower the trap speed acordingly.

hehehehehehe.
I doubt it Larry. Most of us Northern guys have Cali Spec emissions. and most of us don't drive like mad men.
I think your 14.3 NA time is safe for a long while.
