Question Regarding Tint Tickets..

I'm 18 and I'm not positive how insurance works. I got my tint before 30 all around and CHP pulled me over and I ended up having to strip the front. The officer was nice enough to just make me take it off cuz I acted like i had no clue tint was illegal. Since my dad pays for my insurance I'm not sure how they might or might not charge. My question is that if i lets say have 6 percent tint all around and get pulled over and end up getting a fixit ticket. Will my insurance costs go up? Will it go up the First time it happens? Second time it happens? Or does your premium never go up for fixit tickets like tint? btw i live in southern cali.

When I got a ticket for my tint, the cop told me that it wasnt a moving violation so it wouldnt affect my insurance. He said just pay the ticket and it'll be fine. Hope this helps.

Ya, its not a moving violation, so the insurance wont even find out about it. Also, it was a fix it ticket, so no harm in that either.

Your ok

I took off my front tint yesterday. 2 tickets in 2 months was enough for me. And no, it does not get picked up by insurance.
Removing the tint took me a total of 45 min.
The tint stripped off in one piece. Just peal a corner and slowly work it with a razor blade. Then I used goo gone and a razor blade to remove the glue. It may have been easier for me because the tint has been on for only 5 months. 5 Yr old tint maybe a lot harder, I don't know.

Don't take it to a shop. It will cost just as much to have it taken off as put on.

Insurance premiums increase because points were added to your license.

Points are not assessed for tinted windows.

You're in the clear.

The cops here and the DMV office both claim that window tint is a moving violation...in fact...we have two classes you can take to negate the point effects of moving violations on your record....one is 4hrs for smaller offenses, the other 8hrs. Window Tint violations are served in the 8hr class!

Nobody, from attorneys to the city prosecutor to the DMV to the local/state authorities could tell me HOW many points were assessed....in the end, I assume it's 1.

I took mine off both times. Was easy in the summer heat/humidity.
