Put in MT-90 last night

I finally got around to having my tranny fluid replaced. My first impressions are good. It does feel smoother. Not tons, but enough to make the stock shifter feel little better. We'll see how well it works this winter.

Try running AMSOIL Series 2000 next time and I guaruntee you like it better. I would recommend changing every 4 years.

If you had a STS you would notice it even more, especially in the cold. It is tough to get it into 1st in the morning without it.

A friend and I put the MT-90 in my car on Saturday. It does shift nicer.

Did you notice the condition of your drained fluid? Did it have metal flakes in it?

Not at all. It looked fine. I probably could have continued running with it, I just wanted to see how the MT-90 would fare.

Thanks for the info. Mine looked like gold metal flake paint. DOH!

Did you just drain out the old and put in the new? or did you do some elaborate flushing to get all the old stuff out?

If the tranny is up to operating temperature (this will take at least 10 miles of highway driving in cool areas) gravity will drain the old stuff completely. No need to flush anything.

Bingo. I drove about 25 miles to my mechanic and it was a simple drain and fill. I bought a case of MT-90, so I may drain it next spring and see what it looks like then.

I didn't know you guys run such thick Trans fluid.
In that case let me suggest looking into Neo RHD fluid. This is coming from someone who has a tranny that lasts an average of 5k miles under hard driving and shifts like crap after only 3k miles of use.

Ever since I put Neo RHD in my trans it's been shifting like butter.
Of course it's $18 dollars a quart so thats the downside.

Good Stuff:
Redline MTL or MT-90
BG Synchroshift
GM Synchromesh
Neo RHD

I noticed an omission from your list: Amsoil's Series 2000 75W-90
Considering Neo's datasheets indicate that the Amsoil flows better when cold AND is slightly thicker at operating temperature, is there any specific reason it was left of the list?
