How do dealers do it (brake/rotor rust)?
We know that if you let the car long enough without driving, brakes (rotors) will eventually rust, and all it takes it to drive it around for a while to get it off. I read that it's more prevalent with OEM rotors. I asked a guy at a used car lot, and he says he drives the cars once a week or so to keep the rust from building up.
My question is, how do new car dealers do it? They have hundreds of cars sitting in the lot for weeks, if not for months. Do they actually drive each one every once in a while? It seems like a lot of work.

From the factory, new rotors come coated with an "anti-rust" coating that prevents them from rusting. It is kinda like a cadmium coating. But, after a few hundered miles, the cadmium coating wears off and the rotor will eventually rust.
Only the parts on the rotor that the brake pad does not touch does rust only appear. ie. the outside edges of the rotor, the inside edge of the rotor, the "hub part", etc.....There is really no way to FULLY prevent rust on rotors......
