Winter time....

How long did u warm ur car in winter time?
I started to feel some "feet back" when i put the gas in the morning.
normally I only warm my car 3-4 mins in the morning Is there any problem for my car? I don't have any SES light come out. Do i need to warm my car longer? like 10 mins???

I live in Minnesota and I only run mine for 1 or 2 mins before I take off. It is a little stiff when it's really cold ( -10F or more) but a lot of that is from the tranny and tires, and running the engine isn't going to help that.

Agreed... I live in New England... about 25 degrees here for the past few days. I get in and start the car, adjust the radio, buckle up and go. Usually less than 3 minutes unless I have to scrape the windshield.

Your car gets warmer faster if you're driving it and it gets zero miles per gallon while it's idling stopped.

there was talk about this in the past... i remember someone saying it's actully not really good to warm up b/c ur running the car w/o moving any oils and fluids.... so it's better to just get the car going but keep the RPM low.... and warm the car up that way...

I'll go out and start my car a minute or so before I leave so that the heater can get going but it warms up quicker if I drive it and keep the RPM low

Start the car, hit the defrost, hit the seat warmer (woohoo!), scrape the windows / clean the car, go. Go slow.

No need for a 2-3-5-10 minute warm up.

Getting the car going will help it heat up more and there will be no more damage than letting it warm up slowly.

start car, open garage door, make sure idle speed is low enough to go into reverse, back out of garage, car in neutral w/ e-brake (spins driveshaft to help warmup process), close garage door (no remote). Get back in car, buckle-up, turn on radio, turn on heat, wait 30 seconds or until idle speed is ~1000 RPM. Go. Drive under 2500 RPM's for entire way to highway ramp (usually entails sitting at 1-2 traffic lights), ~3-5 minutes. Gently accellerate onto highway up to ~80 mph unless adverse weather conditions exist. Drive smoothly until someone cuts me off...then it's free game to rev.
