I'm kinda excited, but then again I guess I'm a dork

In just a couple of days Nissan will unveil the new Sentra SE-R, The Z, and I think the altima. Whats great is that Nissan's sales are already up and these new cars....not just warmed over old ones are gonna be hot. True the market is slowing but I think their products will be pretty sweet.

Sentra SE-R: Good news....civic si is not in productin right? Toyota has no econo box screamer. Also Mazda's "Tuner" protege will only have 150hp....the Sentra se already has 145

The car *SHOULD* be the new QR25DE(repacement altima engine). Figure upwards of 165hp but on thing the SI doesn't have......TORQUE.

Z: I just got a letter in the mail saying how they are gonna release it blah blah blah. At any rate..it sounds like a no holds bar kinda of car. CAN'T WAIT!

Altima: You know....the altima COULD get a 240hp VQ30DE! WHY?....how hard would it be to add 18hp to the current vq? We can gain 12 to the wheels with an intake and y. The rease I say this is that Z is going to have a 300+HP 3.5L VQ so the rumors of a 280hp Max with the 3.5L can be done.

All this could be garbage that I'm talking.....but we shall se in 4 days

Any guesses guys?

They also have a full size truck coming out with a V8 and probably a larger SUV based off the same platform. . .

I have heard rumors from someone that works in Nissan service of a factory S/C'd Maxima in the coming years, but they aren't confirmed. Although these may be pointless if it isn't offered with a 5 spd. anymore.

I'm pretty excited too. I also received a letter in the mail about the new Z concept. I just hope Nissan doesn't disappoint me with the styling. I've seen the Z concept pics and they aren't too impressive. I'm still waiting for the day Nissan unleashes the R35 Skyline to us. hehehe

No....cuz this post isn't offensive

The 200hp 4cyl was a concept 2 years ago. The car now will most likely be a 300hp 3.5L VQ...in a beast that should(fingers crossed) be lighter than the old 300hp Z. Dunno if its gonna be 25K like intened to BUT it won't be 45K like a vette.

We should be careful not to overhype the new Nissan products. It is very rare for a new vehicle to be released that is even as good as the concept was.

I have no doubt that the SE-R, Altima, and Z will be fabulous vehicles, and it's great that they have more power, but if you think about it, it is not the lack of horsepower that Nissan is suffering from (relative to Toyota/Honda). It's people's perception that Nissans are not as well built and dependable as Toyotas and Hondas. And to a point, their perceptions are absolutely true. In order for Nissan's new vehicles to be a hit, they have to recapture the buyers who purchased Toyotas and Hondas instead of Nissans. Forget about those people who buy Chevy Malibu and Dodge Neons...they don't even have the sense to consider reliability and built quality when they buy those cars.

So, in my opinion, I don't see what all the hype about horsepower is. So what if your car is fast, but if it rattles all over the place it just kills the driving experience.

Have you ever heard of Daihmer/Chrysler (sp?) Their cars aren't reliable at all, but the excitement they generate and the styling they bring to the table is unreal. Look at the cars like Viper, PT Cruiser, 300M, Prowler, Crossfire, Ram, and Durango to name a few.

I have no doubt Nissan will do very good in the next 5 years. They are going back to their performance roots with a furry.

uh. i roam celica.net from time to time, and my cousin owns a 5 sp. gt-s. they will all tell you that stock for stock, the celica gt-s has almost duplicated performance qualitites of a integra gs-r and that it will get *** whooped by a type r.

yeah but being a domestic car somehow it gets an advantage in sales.
the buick by GM is the biggest pos i ever seen, it has endless problems since new, guess what, they sell as many as a camry. i think because the big three name brand still mean alot to many american.

Celica

A Celica GT-S costs about $10K more than an SE-R so I don't think they are comparable when talking about cheap pocket rockets. The new SE-R won't have to do too much to get into the range of the Celica.
