Meridian Package... Htd Seats, Steering Wheel, Mirrors...

Hi All..

Well.. I'm new to the forum (as well as new to the elite group of Maxima Owners), so bear with me if I post something that has already been answered/said. I just bought a 2003 GLE Maxima. It's Silver, with Black Leather interior, and with most of the options that were available.

My question:
My Max did not come with the $399 Meridian Package (heated seats, steering wheel, and mirrors), but these are options that I'd like to have. I was talking to friend that works at a Honda dealer and he said that any Accord that comes fully equipped w/o heated seats only needs the switch installed for the heated seat option to be activated because they all ship with the seat heater already installed in the seats.

I was wondering if Nissan did the same thing. If I just went out and bought the switches for the seats, mirrors and steering wheel, then popped out the blanks where they belonged, would the wire harness be there to hook the switches to? And, if it was there, would just hooking the switches up activate these features?

Now, if this is not the case, how would I go about adding these features to my Max?

Thanks all..
Nick

Hi Champagne97,

What do I have to do to get the heating elements in the steering wheel, seats, mirrors? The steering wheel seems sealed up pretty tight, do I have to get a new steering wheel. And the seats, do they have to be taken apart. I imagine the mirrors just get a heating plate placed behind them. And how about the wiring, is it already present, or do I have to run it all myself??

Thanks,
Nick

you're going to have to replace them... you can't just "add" the heating elements. It would have been cheaper/easier to get this in a new car rather than trying to get them put in after the fact.

Good luck... if I was you I'd buy the stuff aftermarket and sell your stock stuff to offset the cost, but expect to spend much more than the $400 the meridian package costs.

After some thought..

I don't think those options are worth all the trouble.. I mean, the winter is only half the year anyway.. Besides, I got a much better deal on the car because it didn't have those options ($25500), so I'm not complainin..

Thanks for your responses,
Nick

If you wouldnt mind 4th gen stuff you might be able to do it. Either buy from a wrecker or buy my stuff. I dont need the steering wheel and i could sell my heated seats.

Interestingly, I found part of your answer Monday when I added a DC outlet to the back of my center console (and I must say it looks completely stock, too!). Under the center console (atleast on my '97 SE w/o heated seats), to the right of the ebrake handle, is an unused, unhooked plug taped to another wire harness. Total of 4 wires going in to it. It tested to 12.21 volts (yellow with green stripe wire) with the key in the Acc position, and 0.08v when ignition off (I don't know why. Can someone explain?). This is what I hooked my live wire for my DC outlet to. I only assume this unused plug is for heated seats, because I can't figure what else it can be there for (also because it isn't powered when I take the fuse to the heated seats out of the main fuse box). Also, on the underside of the console where the switches normally are located, you can see the cutouts for adding switches. Something to keep in mind if I need more switches installed.

Dave
