Kudos to Tirerack

I debated whether or not to post this but decided that maybe someone might like some customer feedback about the Tirerack company.

I purchased a set of Kosei K1 Racing wheels and Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires from the Tirerack. I placed my order on Wednesday the 22nd at 2:00 PM. and I received them today, Friday, the 24th. I used the FedEx 3-day shipping option.

The wheels/tires arrived as four(4) separate items -- but they were not shipped in boxes. Rather, each wheel/tire had heavy-gauge cardboard disks banded to tire so that the cardboard disks protected each side of the wheel. The wheels/tires came with the hub rings, lugnuts, valve stems, mounted and balanced. The tires where fully inflated and ready to mount on the car. The tires and wheels arrived in perfect condition.

So, I can recommend the Tirerack without hesitation. Dan, the sales person I spoke with, helped me select the SP Sport 5000s by providing useful information about that tire and an alternate tire I was considering. All in all, a very pleasant purchase experience!

Paul W

P.S. The Kosei K1 Racing wheel looks awesome (silver painted version)! The finish looks flawless.

they ARE very reliable and their customer support is superb. when i ordered struts from them and they sent me one wrong one in the set, so i called them back and politely explained (not raved and cursed) to them that they sent me the wrong one. They apologised profusely and sent the right one by fedex overnight to me at not extra charge and only requested i drop the wrong one off for the ups guy. Now that's good service.

I agree....... I bought my tires/rims from them and the included socket adapter failed while tightening the lugs. They sent out a replacement overnight. More businesses should follow their example.

Tire Size

I got the 15x7 wheels. The tires are 225/60-15. I know everybody likes the larger wheel size, but this wheel/tire combo still looks 10 times better than the stock steel wheels. And, as a performance benefit, the new wheels and tires weigh less than the stock stuff.

BTW, if I had purchased 16" wheels and tires, it would have cost an additional $340 for the set ($1,134 Vs $794). I am going to use the cash I saved to buy a Y-pipe!

I got my wheels from TireRack.
I stripped out 3 of my lug nuts. It was totally my fault. I called them and they overnighted me 10 lug nuts for free. Yes totally free!!!

excellent place to deal with

my last 2 sets of tires came from there...

and i've had had my family members buy tires for their cars from there as well..

i got better deals from tirerack AFTER shipping, than i was able to find locally... by far!

I'm talking 30$ per tire type differences.. saved me a lot of $ and hassle..

plus their customer service is a pleasure to deal with

Buy all my tires form the,.. fast freindly and knowledgeable. I ordered online once and typed in the wrong car info and my tire order didn't mesh with the stock wheel size for the car I indicated and they called me in 10 minutes telling me the tires did not match the stock vehicle wheels asking if I needed to modify my order.

I only buy from them when it comes to tires and wheels. I also bought my H&Rs and struts from them. Everything is shipped on time, if not a little early. Sure, I might have paid a few bucks more for my Koni's, AGXs, or H&Rs by not getting in on group deals, but the peace of mind and the ability to check they're stock is more worth it to me plus returning items is never a problem. They are by far the best aftermarket distributor to deal with. I'll never buy wheels and tires from anyone else.

I too like tire rack's speediness. I bought 2 Kumho rear tires for the Corvette (the cheapest tires were $175 a piece!), ordered it on Wed. and it was here on Thursday with standard shipping!

Ditto here. They even called my home to ensure that I had actually placed the order, to prevent credit card fraud. If they didn't do that to everybody else then it's because of my Experian or whatever. They also provided me with an extra set of chromed valve stems. Good organization.

I usually get my local retailers to price match to discount tire, whose prices you can find online and they won't add shipping since discount tire has retail stores.

Usually the sales tax (no tax mail order) vs. the shipping are nearly a wash. The more expensive the tire/wheel package, the cheaper going Tire Rack will be since shipping is the same for a cheap package or expensive one.

SP Sport 5000

[QUOTE]Stillnmax Said: your going to like the sp5000's ... i had them on my car for a while now... they just suck in the snow ... , but when spring gets here and summer, look out because you will just go faster.[/QUOTE}

I already love them. They are noticably quieter than the Potenza RE-950s that I had on the car and it seems as if my car just rolls easier. By "rolls easier" I mean that when costing up to a stop sign/light I can pop the 5sp into neutral and cost much farther without slowing down as much.

BTW - we have snow on the ground here so I have been taking it easy when going around corners, comming into an intersection, etc. I guess I'll have to wait to see what kind of handling improvement I get.
