purple headlights (blubs)
i've seen those purple 'xenons' around for some time and wondered if anyone here used them? only saw them in person on a lexus so far and they were purple as it gets. including the light on the ground. i wonder if they are any good in rain/city driving etc.
they looked cheesy as hell (but pretty i must admit) so i am wondering if they are any better than the blue knock offs.

I just got XD5 blue bulbs and they are an improvement over stock. I doubt shining purple light on a dark road will help visibility. There's is a guy selling super yellow bulbs for like 80 bucks on ebay. I'm think yellow would give better visibility.

The purple or crystal white Hanabi kit throws much more light on the road then the blue kit. I had them both and wound up sticking with the purple bulbs. Much better visibility. Ask AnGe, 97maxgurl, I sold her my bulbs and she also switched from blue to purple.

The blues provide plenty of visibility in all conditions. Trust me...I don't know what blue Hanabi's you were using

at 500$ i'll have to pass but i'll get some purple bulbs this weekend and see how they go. thing is that my 'white' blue tint that i currently have basically disperses in wet weather (as expected) and even a little dirt on the headlight glass leaves me blind.
yellows are best in terms of visibility but uhm.. yellow is yellow.
yellow is not stock. they just look yellowish. hence the blue tint on newer bulbs to eliminate the yellow which brings a whole load of problems.
