i read that the new 3.5L Z engine is the one used in the maxima exept it's been bored out and stuff. would it be able to get transplnted into a maxima? i'm sure this has been brought up before. is it 'no' because of rwd?

I heard about someone with a 300Z engine in their Max, but it took a HUGE amount of effort and modification to wedge it in. I didn't hear anyone brag about its reliability and dependability either! I don't know whether it was a turbo or a non-turbo Z engine. I don't know whether the Maxima's tranny could handle the extra HP, either. Probably not... My guess: It's possible, but not worth the effort.

for the money you spend, you could get a 300zx

Z engine?? or pathfinder??

It sounds like you're talking about the new Pathfinder engine.

From what I remember, it's the same as the maxima motor except bored out to be a 3.5L. The external dimensions are supposed to remain unchanged.

I have a hard time believing anyone could put a 300z motor in their maxima without heavy photoshop usage :-)

he's asking about the new Z engine, not the 300ZX

If the sites are correctly, the new Z will have a 3.5L VQ engine. The Pathfinder uses a 3.5L VG engine if I am not mistaken.
