Security Remote Question.

Yes, I did a search and read the FAQ's, but I did not get the answer I was looking for.

Can I use a 2000+ remote on my 97? My car has the security package, so that will not be a problem. I was looking to buy something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6755 .

Probably not. If you're on ebay looking for a remote, might as well buy a 4th gen one.

Car alarm remotes only work (or compatible) with the "brain" (computer) that it's designed for. So in your case, you need the computer brain from the 2000+, along with the designated remote. All in all, in order for remotes to work for certain alarm systems, they must operate and be programmed on the same frequency as its computer "brain". Any other remote that doesn't have that same frequency will NOT work.
