Can I paint my Monster Flow Fiter?

Clean'n up the engine bay and decided to go with a "yellow" color scheme. Anyone with a Monster flow from Frankencar knows that the filter is red. This throws things off. I've already painted the spark plug cover and I have plenty of paint left,(high temp paint) so Im wondering....If I strip the foam and what have you out of the MF filter, and take special care to avoid any paint on the inside of it would there be any problems? I have a K&N to substitute in place of the MF until the paint cures properly, so that wouldn't be an issue. Im thinking the filter itself doesn't get very hot, so there shouldn't be any issues, but I figured I'd run it by you guys first.

Funny thing is, I gave that option some serious thought but ultimately decided against it. It would be unreasonably time consuming and I ain't got nearly enough paint for a project that large!!

I think it just easier to stick to the filter.

Anyone else?

Yes you can just as long as you don't paint the filter element

Smooooth....dats what Im talk'n about! Link and all. Thanks Soundmike. A few more questions though...what type of paint did you use, high temp or regular spray paint? How long did it take to cure? How many coats? And finally...if you did use High temp Engine paint, what color is that in your pics? Reason I ask is, that looks like a good color to paint the manifold

I used the same paint i used on my RSB. They're metallic so it has that "sparkle" look in it.

I don't recall how many coats i made since i had to do this twice. The first time around, i forgot to sand the cone first and thus, the paint just peeled off like a skin to a banana.

The second time around, i sanded, washed, dried and cleaned it. Primed, painted then clearcoated. I don't have the intake anymore though, sold it to a fellow .Org member. But as of last time i saw it in his sig pic, it looked just the same as the first day i completed painting it.
