It doesn't matter which way it goes.

If you look at the cat, there will be a fitting for the O2 sensor. You will only be able to put the cat on one way and still be able the put the sensor in the fitting.

cat-back = mid-pipe ?? Then if not on CAT, you got the wrong year.

Here's what I know. I have a 98 maxima. The cat I ordered did not come with a air tube for an O2 sensor. The cat-back I ordered did. I am having a shop install it for me once the cat-back comes in. I just want to make sure it goes on right. I thought I read somewhere that 95-96 had O2 on cat and 97+ do not.

You read right, 95 and 96 are the ones with the o2 sensor on the cat, 97-99 doesnt. In your case it doesnt matter which way the cat goes, there's no right or wrong way. The o2 sensor will go on the B-pipe right behind the cat. And with the the cat-back, it will only go on one way so you don't have to worry about the o2 sensor hole being on the wrong side.

Keep your reciept and fill out and send in the warranty card.

Thats what saved my rear when my 3 week old RT Cat shelled out. Options Auto sent it back and a new one was returned to them. Of course I didnt want it but they allowed me store credit.

Yes...it does matter which way it goes. There is an arrow stamped on the steel part of the RT cat. Look more carefully.

I don't have an arrow on mine either, always thought it could go in either way.

Maybe the newer rt cats can go in either way? I just purchased mine this November and nowhere on it is there a flow direction or arrow stamped.
