Fuel pump is pretty easy to replace so don't worry about it too much. Just the part is going to set you back some. The labor shouldn't be more than 1 hour ~$60. YOu can even install it yourself. It's under the rear seat.

Re: but am I correct on this.

It's hard to say. It's either the fuel pump or could be something wrong with the ignition system.

Could be the fuel pump. If you turn your key forward (don't start) you should hear a buzz for about 2 seconds. Thats your fuel pump kicking on. It will continue to buzz when the engine is running, but will be harder to hear. you might be able to hear it under the car. Otherwise, pull the backseat, pull the access panel to the top of the fuel tank, then put your hand on the top of the tank. you will feel a vibration if the pump is running. If it is, the filter could be clogged. I this doesn't solve it, I would take a trip to the dealer (saves guess work and time).

Try to replace the fuel filter. When disconecting the fuel hoses look for fuel dribbling out. If no sign of fuel then your pump is gone. Just my guess- your problem might be in the ignition system. Fuel pump rarely go bad.
