Although it has yet to be proven on a track, I think that its just amazing that a N/A max could run a mid 13 second 1/4 mile time when there are max's who are running a supercharger with a smaller pulley PLUS nitrous and are only getting low 13's.

Mid 13s are theroretical, but I wouldn't be surprised if Neal pulls a 13.7 or so at 100-101mph. I hope to get into the 14.2-14.3@99mph on street tires.

Damn that's fast for FWD cars. Whoever said that FWD car's can't compete with the RWD setups (dollar for dollar) is nucking futs man. They've never driven a Nissan. I sooooooooooooo can't wait to start my mods!

I just got off the phone with Ben at JWT. I ordered my ECU I wussed out though, I only did the 7000rpm fuel-cut. After a long winded talk with Ben and a lab tech, I became convinced that the 7000rpm fuel-cut would be more ideal for me. Apparently when beta testing the first 4th gen ECU, valve float would start to occur shortly after 7000rpms. While valve-float is not a terrible thing, it can wear out the valve-train over time and it's just not something I'm willing to risk. Ben also told me that JWT would have to give me a disclaimer that the 7200-rpm fuel was out of the limits of the stock valve train and that they wouldn't be responsible for damage. It would be nice to go that 0.05-.1 faster with a the 7200-limiter, but this is my daily driver. My Z28 would float the valves at 6000rpms and it felt much like what the USIM 4th gen feels like at 6000+, winded, no acceleration, and lots of noise.

The ECU is $595 shipped back to me with a 2 week turnaround assuming I get it to them this week.

I wonder what they are going to do with my ECU then, since I requested and he put on my order 7200rpm limiter but never made any mention of a waiver or anything. I hope it doesn't delay me getting my ECU back.

Just set the shift light for 6700rpm and hope it doesn't go over the 6900rpm. I killed my VG via valve float. Stock valve springs + 6300rpm for more than 30 seconds = damage. The car lost power and when I let off the gas I heard a rattling sound and the engine died. I pulled the heads and found all the valves were bent and the #2 exhaust valve broke in half as did the rocker arm. There is a nice hole in the #2 piston too .

i encountered the same deal...had to sign a waiver for the 7.2k limiter. like you i did not risk it.

If you had the springs , retainers and JW cams and rev limit set at 7500rpms would it pull to redline do you think? And mayby could you do a cartest on that setup thankyou.

Na, you'll be fine with the order. When I orginally asked for the 7200-rpm limiter he just said they'd have to do a disclaimer.

Could you run the Cartest with the 7000rpms limiter.....please

Just did, differences are nil basically. .04s in the 1/4 mile, and about the same from there on out. With the 7200rpm rev limiter its about .03-.05 seconds faster to any speed, so you're probably looking at a difference of 2 feet in a race between a car with 7200rpm rev limiter and 7000rpm rev limiter. With Requin's #s, optimal shift points are redline, redline redline and then 6980 from 4th-5th. So it looks like my quest for the extra 200rpms may have been a little foolhard, but I look at it as a little buffer zone to avoid banging the rev limiter which happens all too often with the MEVI. I'll aim for shifting at 7100 and not have to worry about screwing up another run like my last run last season (hit the rev limiter twice on a run with my best 60' ever and ended up running a 14.04).
