How u guys power shft

i am talk bout standard and not auto.. when u r racing but on the track cuz we don't street race here.. how do u shift for optimal preformance. when i race i never let go of da gas pedal it is all ways down even between shifts plus i stomp on da clutch and then place it in which ever gear is next then slide my foot under da brake so dat the clutch snaps back...

jus wonderin how u guys do it....

Why not just run slicks instead? That would give a better ET reduction and won't destroy the tranny as fast. Sure you might cause the clutch to slip but that is better than buying another tranny too.

How you plan on replacing your clutch/tranny soon by doing that.

I think you've pretty much got it down.

But, I find that sidestepping the clutch is a little cumbersome. I basically stab it and let it come up under my foot - while shifting as fast as possible into the next gear.

Of course, I'm notorious for missing 3rd at the track. Missing a shift while powershifting can be . . . bad. So, what I've found is that for the 3rd shift, I position my arm to make certain I shift straight forward from 2nd to 3rd - just about impossible to miss.

Yeah maybe half clutch it but all that would do is wear the clutch. I would just shift normally and get really good like theblue or neal.

You certainly don't want to 1/2 clutch. When I say stab - I mean all the way to the floor. You are really asking for problems if you don't fully engage the clutch and have good timing.

Powershift = bad

Just shift quickly and use lift-throttle shifts. I have no problems banging the gears extremely fast without powershifting.

I agree w/ Dave here. I just shift as quick as possible while lightly letting off the gas. I think out of all the times I have raced I have missed a gear once.

if you must.

i usually halfclutch it then shift. halfclutch=push the peddle down just past the point where slippage starts.

1-2 stay on the gas
2-3 stay on the gas
3-4 lift throttle. just incase you miss the shift and hit 2nd you wont alredy be on the gas. remeber you are @~95mph.
4-5 come on do you really need to @ 130mph++

And I thought I was bad to my tranny.... Jeez!

No need to kill your car, just learn how to get through the gears without brute force.

Dave B - Agreed 100%

I agree. My friend powershifted for a solid 10 months before he needed a new 2000 dollar tranny.

i wouldn't recommend powershifting at least for the 1-2 shift
i already get enough wheelspin as it is, and powershifting would only add to the issue.

i never powershift, just shift as quick as i can; clutch all they way in, off the gas at the same time, shift, clutch disengaged and pedal to the floor simultaneously.

as stated earlier powershifting is very abusive on your tranny. i am guilty of doing it on both of my maximas. you would be better to just shift quickly if you want your tranny to last.

with the exception of beign able to stay in the gas. i dont think there is any real advantage to powershifting vs a precise quick shift. if you want to shift faster get short throw shifter.

enjoy and do as you wish.

dont need to, your tranny has synchros for a reasom. more work for no gain. think about it, how fast can fully press and depress th clutch pedal, while moveing the shifter from gear to gear.

you've been watching too much F&F bro
double clutching is stupid for upshifts...

for downshifting i'd understand, but even for that, our synchros is much better than before (when double clutching was required).

it just brings the tranny up to speed with the engine and won't help in racing 1/4 mile, it will actually make you shift slower.
