I took out my front strut housing tonight to replace a bad strut bearing. Well, I completely forgot how to line up the top coil "cap" that houses the top coil spring insulator and compresses the spring. On the top of the cap is the word "OUT". Do I turn the "out" on the cap towards the outside of the car?

The 3 bolts that stick up from the strut cap are not equally spaced apart freom each other. Just measure the space between 2 of the bolts and measure the wholes that they stick through to fidn the match. In the future I would suggest that you put some white out on the outer strut cap bolt so you know how it lives up. This'll save you some headaches

Yeah, the 3 bolt mount only fits one way. I'm talking about the part that compresses the top of the spring and has the insulator in it. This cap (approximately 6" in diameter) is slightly angled and I can't remember which way it went. The salt and road grim already ate off the white mark I had on there before and I forgot to mark it this time.

the upper seat has a small notch (along with

bigger cut outs) that faces the outside of the car.
