painting brakes suck
o.k i'm getting sick of re-painting my brake callipers every so often cause the dust tends to make the red turn black! is there another alternative to this?
i use high temp autozone spray can. i think i have about 7 coats on there now! i did the search but the expensive stuff you paint on suck too. any ideas?

My Folia -Tec (sp?) silver painted calipers come spotless every time I wash them. Just a spary of Simple Green and hose them off while I wash the wheels. They still look like that day I did them!
Use a good quality caliper painting system, don't use spray paint.

I painted mine with the Auto Zone caliper spray paint too, and they come clean with every wash. Did you clean your calipers with brake cleaner before you painted them the first time? I just spray on a little Simple Green or some Castrol All Wheel Cleaner before I wash, and they look bright red and clean afterward.

so you would have to get a rebuild kit after they were powdercoated..

you need to remove all non metal parts form the caliper to powder coat then.

I would powdercoat them if I were you. When I had my old brake calipers on, I had the same problems you are having. The red would just simply turn black, no matter how well I cleaned them or anything. But, when I got my 300ZX calipers in, I immediately sucked up $60.00 and had them both powdercoated. So far in two months, I have had no problems at all with the red......
