NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs Write-up

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I found an interesting Tech Bulletin on NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs. Check it out:

http://www.ngkspark.com.au/bulletin_T01-7.htm

You can purchase a set of these plugs for $54.00 + $4.00 shipping here:

These have actually been out for some time now. Think I bought my first set for $5 something a plug and second set for $6 something a plug? They only last about 25-30k, which is normal for an iridium plug. I went back to the OEM plugs though, can't tell much difference?

What is the benefit of Iridium over the stock platinums? Durability? If so, then why is it that the change interval for Iridiums is half that of Platinums?

Supposedly better spark. Because they last only as long as copper plugs, I wonder how well they compare to them? They cost nearly the same as platinums but last only as long as $1-2/plug coppers... If you read the tech bulletin as well as Denso's literature, you'd think they'd make a huge difference but I don't believe that's the case. I have Denso Iridium plugs myself and notice no difference at all.

Agreed, I'm running the NGK Iridium IX's and there is no noticeable difference from the stock platinums. I think the Maxima's computer controlled ignition system is so good that there is very little room for improved performance from any given plug upgrade.
