how can i remove oil off driveway/garage?
how can i remove oil off driveway/garage?
My garage floor is full of leaked tranny oil, mixed in w/ motor oil. I want to clean my entire garage out this weekend and also clean that **** up off the floor. Damn my leaking tranny and oil pressure sensor!
Anyone recommend a method or product?? I heard a long time ago that cat litter works... i dunno, i'd rather prefer a product. As for the driveway... i wanna clean as much of it off, then ill put a thin layer of cement to cover it up. As for the garage... i cant use the cement method because the ground is really smooth and different tone color... weird. Alright, thanks guys.

We use it in the underground parking in our Condo.
Litter is ok for large amounts but to get right into the concrete or ashphalt you need something much finer.
PS BTW I have tried almost every commercial product and nothing works like plain old all purpose flour.

The best I have found is flour or dry cement. Just put in on and sweep around a bit and it picks it right up and takes all the moisture too.

Spray brake cleaner on it and let it sit for a bit but not dry out and it will wipe up many times...it may need slight scrubbing with stiff brush if set-in.
Also Simple Green works many times as well...

get kitty litter (Generic brand is fine) and pour about a 1/2 inch on the spot. YOu can either let it sit there for a while, or wear an old pair of sneakers and 'grind' the kitty litter INTO the ground. It will soak up all of it in due time.. it will work, just that you will look like you're doing the 'Twister' on the floor.

The fluids or the stains? The fluids...saw dust, kitty litter. To get rid of the stains you will need power washer to cut some of the surface.

Castrol Super clean works great for taking stains out....use full strenghth spray onto stain...scrub...let sit 5 minits...scrub..and wash off.
I wouldn't recommend applying a thin layer of cement over the spot. It will just crack and look even worse and also present a hazard for your tires and safety in general. Just clean it as best as you can.

I need to paint my concrete basement floor with dust suppressant. I was told that using muriac acid is important to degrease the concrete first.
thanks for all your advice guys. Well stage one is complete... lol at least the garage floor. I sprayed some water over the huge oil stained area, then used a brush to scrub it down.. then i sprayed a ****load of Orange Clean degreaser.... let it sit for a couple min, then scrubbed some more. Then to top it off, i poured flour on top of it all... hahhaha omfg it looks worst now lol! well I was able to scrape off majority of it.
at least it is dry! I can walk all over it now w/o getting my feet oily. The only thing left now is the ugly oil stain. I will check out the muriatic acid. Thanks guys!

Coca Cola. No joke. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and wash off. It's scary what this stuff does to oil, imagine what it does to your insides (for those of you that drink too much cola).

I have had good success with powdered laundry detergent. A quarter scoop of Tide and a little bit of water, work the paste into the stain. Let sit overnight, and hose off next morning, you will see the stain greatly reduced.
