Redline vs. Amsoil Manual Trans Oil

I was wondering which is better? I know I want to use either one or the other I just don't know which would be better. So let the comparison begin!

I imagine they preform pretty similarly.

I have redline now, and am going to put in Amsoil when I change my clutch. I bought Amsoil for no other reason than convenience. I use it for my engine, so I added some tranny fluid on my last order.

The oil anlaysis spreadsheet does not have a comparison between Amsoil MT and Redline MT. I was looking for people that have used these brands and would suggest them based on their results. I am using Valvoline Durablend right now and I am definitely not happy with it. I was particularly interested in what people have to say about Amsoil MT oil because I know a lot of people have been satisfied with Redline.

My max has 60k miles on her so its due for a manual tranny fluid change... My buddy (where I'm putting my summer tires on) has a hoist and I'm thinking of changing the fluid at the same time... Is it a straight drain plug, or is it like some autos where you have to remove the pan and its a real pain in the **** job to do? How much fluid (not that I won't check the manual, but I'm at work )

Thanx!

There is a drain plug. It is just like draining the oil. It takes 5 quarts as well.

Is there anything else that I should do before I put new fluid in it?? Flush system with something? Filter present? Break in period on new fluid? or anything?

When I replaced the MT fluid the first time I drained and then filled. I think this is all you have to do?

its a drain and fill

there is a fill hole and a drain hole. Maxima non LSD trans takes 4.7 qt i believe and the LSD takes 4.5 qt. If your on flat ground, you fill the trans until fluid comes out of the fill hole.

I've used Redline and Amsoil. I like Amsoil. Surprise

Both the 5 speed and the 6 speed are drain and fill procedures. No special flushes, weird procedures or machines necessary. Just basic hand tools and a long funnel.

The 5 speed people should buy 5 quarts. The 6 speed people should buy 3 quarts.

Everyone I know who has used a synthetic in the 5 speed has loved it. It seems that about half of the 6 speed people love it, the other half hate it. I've seen these comments on both Amsoil and Redline, so the no brand is immune.

I've used Redline MT-90, Amsoil GL-4, and Amsoil Series 2000. Amsoil Series 2000 wins hands down.
