Question for the exhaust experts

I have a 1995 se 5sp
If I were to get a resonably priced y-pipe like a warspeed 304 SS TIG "Y", I live in florida where have no inspections or emissions testing. What if the just had a custom pipe mandrel bent made by an exhaust place to go from the y-pipe to the muffler, that would be pretty cheep way to go. Would this work and would it add HP by bypassing the cat and that other premuffler looking thing on the b-pipe. Would it sound like $hit? What about backpressure?

TIA

Low end torque will suffer slightly, although high end HP will increase slightly. It will be louder than stocker. The stock muffler does a decent job of keeping things fairly quiet.

would the low end tourqe be because of back press that the cat and the pre muffler looking thing(whats it called?) normally create? what if I didn't mandrel bend the pipe on it and got an after market muffler would that create enough backpressure to keep th low end tourque? I want it to sound nice not too loud, just deep. With a Frankencar intake. Would that be a decent setup?

I got the whole thing from Budget and added the cheapy universal muffler...I am very happy with the set up. The sound is louder (specially at low RPM's) but way deaper....I guess using the exhaust wrap will make the exhaust quiter....

I don't think the loss of low end torque is something u should worry about, it's not that significant.....and the increase in torque/HP from 3500 rpms to 5500 should make up for that
