420 miles on my ACT and it feels completely different then when new
I have been babying the clutch now for 420 miles. ~55-65% are highway miles so i'm going to give it another 400 or so miles before I romp on it.
I've noticed that the clutch has a different feel to it now. The clutch pedal is less stiff and the engagements are easier then at first. It almost feels stock like, which is a good thing and a bad thing. It's much nicer to drive, but I wonder about how much clamping force it's going to have with it being soo smooth on granny shifts. There is no real clutch chatter and my dash doesnt shake when letting out the clutch in first. It of course vibrates more then stock, but nothing severe.
Does this sound normal for an ACT/Resurfaced fly that's close to being broken in?

Craig I just did an ACT and AASCO flywheel on my 92, and I am having the same thing happen to me. Thank God I can relate with the same feeling on the clutch and grab. I hit 500 miles today and its probably 70% city and 30% highway and it doesn't shake as much anymore but it still does shake. I have to give it a bit more of gas to take off smoothly but the grab is still the same as day one with the new clutch. The shaking part is really what changed over these 500 miles. I guess its normal. I'll keep you updated on how it goes and I have spoken to other members and it eventually goes away after like 1000-2000 miles for sure and it feels like a stock clutch but it still grabs real well.

Eric: You have no idea how hard it is not to romp on it. I get people trying to race me or have a friendly "acceleration test" for a minute. For example, I was headed to my friends friday night and a Foxbody 5.0 with cobra rims, exhaust, ect. was right beside me. He knew I was boosted and after the light turned green, he waited for a second then gunned it and went flying by me. You don't know how bad I wanted to gun it, but couldn't. Things like that happen all the time.
Another example is my run-in with a Black LS1 Camaro SS with chrome SS rims and exhaust. I was headed toward the highway on-ramp, and he was going straight. No cars in front of us, about about a mile of open road. He gets beside me, looks at me and my friend, and guns it. His engine was roaring, but he didn't really accelerate that fast, and all I did was give it gas @2900rpm in gear (cruising) I KNEW that if I could just slam the gears and go, I would have destroyed him. I could say I beat an LS1 SS, but I only had around 200 miles on the clutch at the time so there was no way in hell I would jeapordize it.
Everytime these things happen I just tell my self how much sweeter it's gonna be when I can romp on it. Patience is a virtue.

loose its clamping force never if anything that **** is going to clamp hard as ****sss, but the pedal does get 90% softer after break in period. Almost like stock

487 miles on the clutch. How much longer should I keep this up? I got ansy today and floored it to around 5500 in first gear today ( already ingaged) ..damn it pulls hard. Since I was already in gear it shouldn't put as much stress on the clutch. I forgot how hard this thing pulls.
Anyways, what mile mark should I shoot for?

feels like stock? HARDLY. you think it feels like stock because you've been driving it for awhile now. try this: go get in a stock maxima 5-speed. you wont believe how the clutch feels....BUTTER.
shoulda seen me trying to drive this 02' maxima at the track this past weekend. i was letting out the clutch for what seemed like FOREVER because im used to the semi-hard engagement of the act.
i love the act. once you've driven it for awhile, you start to dread driving cars with stock clutches.

It's like my car + going the speed limit trigger something in their brains and they go crazy, like they are trying to say "your not soo tough and fast".... I get it from ricers, domestics, SUVs, ect.

I've romped on it a bit. Like today I floored while in first gear around 10mph and it pulled hard. I notice that it doesn't lag like my old clutch, it's like my old clutch on a very good day. I've never banged it into gear though, I always granny shift. I havent even gone over 5000rpm.
Damn i'm anxious.

hell this thing grabs so hard if i mash the pedal while rolling in first it lights up the tires, i cant imagine what it will be like with an SC.

What tire/wheel setup are you running? I hope I don't have a p#ssy ACT or something.

while your rolling in first gear at say...10 or 15 mph take your foot all the way off the gas pedal then mash it all the way. i guarantee you will spin your tires.

Craig Mack, I just checked out your gallery, and although I've seen pics of your car before, I was blown away by how tight it is. Your duals look so hot, and the tips are perfect for a Max (what are they?) Beautiful car, man. Sounds damn fast too.

The car pulls harder now, like the clutch is clamping down without slip. I didn't expect the RPMs to climb harder with more vigor. I shifted third gear @ ~5000rpm. It didn't chirp, but shifting A LOT faster then my stock clutch and shifted nice, short and hard. I'm not busting into second yet, gotta keep breakin her in.

I did have pretty nasty chatter until over 1000miles - probably my fault. , now its perfect, drives as close to stock as an ACT can .. before i Had to rev over 3000rpm to keep from chatter, now 1300rpm haha
act's are good clutches. be careful on your tranny now though!! ESPECIALLY the 3rd gear shifts, dont slam that gear unless you need to.
oh, and anything about me street racing? i was just kidding. i wouldn't do that.. i don't agree with it, and do not promote it. keep it to the track
