Engine cleaning...
Before I start, i know i could search for this, but i have not found answers.
I am planning on cleaning and detailing my'02 in the next few weeks. Living in the NE we get alot of sand/salt build up everywhere.
I am looking for a set of detailed instructions on cleaning my engine bay. What parts to cover and not get water into, what products to use and maybe pictures of those eng. components to cover up.
Thanks for any help!!!

Just need to cover up your aftermarket intake if you have one. Specifically the filter.
A lot of people use simple green and just spray it on, let it sit, then rinse it off about 5 minutes later. With that you have to make sure the engine is cool otherwise it will leave a film.
A lot of people also use CD2 engine detailer. It's convenient, leaves a nice shine. But it also shows the buildup even more, especially if you have grease in your engine bay. It can be wiped to clean it off. This one you use when your engine is warm.
Peronally I used a combo of both the simple green and the CD2 engine detailer. It worked awesome.

I have a '95 and the engine has not been cleaned...ever... I gotta get under there and wash it out, but I don't have the courage to go under there and start spraying water. My dad says i can't do it cuz i'll screw something up...most of you guys say it's ok. I know most of the stuff under the hood is waterproof, but I still worry. I'm gonna try to do it sometimes this summer, anyone got good advice? Thanks.
