Car and Driver Poll- Max vs GP

Car and Driver is hosting a poll on which sport sedan best embodies its nameplate, the 2004 Max or the GP. Personally, I don't think there is much comparison, but we are losing! I think you all need to get out there and vote!

Which all-new, V-6-powered, front-drive sport sedan best embodies its nameplate?

2004 Nissan Maxima
37.5%
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
62.5%
Total Votes: 10733

No wonder, they are casting the votes for the 04. If it was an 03 it might have been a diff story.

When the new GP comes out based on the Aussie Holden ? model, then the GP may actually be a pretty cool car. There are pics somewhere, couldn't find them right away though.

The new GP isn't based on any Holden car (but the new Pontiac GTO is gonna be based on the Holden Monaro). It has already been available to the press. Here is a pic of it:

Maxima wins this battle in my books...ugly at first, but many people will open up to it.

hmmm

not much to say about the 04 nissan lost the younger market, and as for as car and driver, there are not a lot of grannies that are going to visit the site so im thinking the 04 is in trouble in that poll.

These 2 cars can't be the only choices, no? I thought the new Mazda 6 was the hands-down winner in this category? Or doesn't a sport sedan need to have good handling? Grand Prix has poor reliability and one of the worst depreciations of any car. Guess that shows what the readers want.

Nice one brother.
A '96 is 1 light year older (looking) than a '97.
Go 5sp or go home.

i am aware of what years the 4th gen maxima model was present, i was just simply stating that 97-99 is the best looking, due to tail lights, flat rear end, better front end, and steering wheel.

re-enforced bumpers that don't trigger your air bags and total your car
solid trunk that doesn't rattle as much as the 95/96 trunk
oversized cup holder that you can carry your large drink in..

list goes on

I just saw the new 04 max commercial and I thought the car looked pretty good even though I don't see the resemblance to past gen. maximas. Judging from the response of this post though I'm assuming i'm in the minority.

I'mma go vote now.

Aint't that the truth

The 95-96es may be a bit faster due to their lighter weight and stock 15s, but I'll still take a 97-99 anyday.

True. But I'm comparing SEs to SEs, and GXEs to GXEs. No mix 'n match here
