a knowledgeable installer should have no problem doing it safely

our maximas (3rd and 4th gens for sure, probably 5th and 6th too) come stock with a neutral sensor that tells the ECU when the car is in neutral. You can tap into this and wire it so that it wont start if it's not in neutral (most remote starts have a hood input so it wont start if the hood is open; you can use this but may have to use some relays to change the polarity of the signal)

I have remote start in my 5spd. All the installer really need to do, is bypass the clutch switch.

On 4th and 5th gen's there's a lil button right on top of the clutch. All I did was get nut-cap (can be bought at home depot) and just cover that button. Now my remote start works and I don't even need to press my clutch in when I start the car.

That's the same exact thing I was going to say.

Carefull when you do this guys, if you bypass the clutch switch, the first time you leave it in gear and remote start, problems!

Mine is wired so it won't start unless it's in neutral.

Thanks Craig!

Clifford Avant Guard 4 (AG4)

The only alarm to my knowledge where you can do that legally, meaning the install shop won't have to bypass it. Most shops won't bypass it or if they do, they won't put that on the sales receipt because of liability.
The AG4, you have to put in a code on the remote before you step out of the car. Then starting the car from the outside isn't a problem. There is NO way to put the car in gear and remote start it because you have to put in the code while the car is running. I also have a turbo timer (part of the alarm) working with it as well.
Oh, I have a 5sp as well.
Good luck w/ your choice in alarms
