I wish that I had the Yamaha V6 in the SHO, very nice motor.

V6 SHO's and CSVT's sound nothing short of awesome when they are at 6000 RPM. I really miss the way my '99 CSVT sounds...oh well! I've got a faster car with an automatic now

the VQ35DE sounds nothing like the VQ30DE. Much less smooth and refined. More like a howling beast from hell. Man sometimes I miss that smooth purr to redline on my old VQ30DE.

Donald. Stop it, you are scaring all of us.

The best way to get ppl off your back isn't to tell them what they want to hear. It's to not respond to them at all!

I agree the VQ35 sounds mean!I love the smooth growl, like I said, ever since you left Chilli's that day, it was so clean and smooth.

The VQ is just a engine code, sort of like how they used VG for the TTZ engine when it was DOHC, blah blah and then VG for the SOHC, even though they were different in many ways, the engine code is the same.

Are you kidding me? I'd much rather have the engine note of my Moms G35 then my 3.0VQ. (not my motor in it's current state, but my 3.0VQ stock vs. 3.5LVQ stock). The 3.5L emits an amazing burble at part throttle and just screams at WOT. It sounds like my dad's 2k3 4.7L V8 Toyota 4runner. Not as deep, but with a similer burble and "muscle" tone.

The burble is also partly due to the G35's intake and exhaust configuration. The 2k4 Maxima's engine is quieter then the G35's without the burble. Still, the 3.0L VQ stock is too quiet and "boring" to me, while the VQ35 has a brashier tone to it.

The VQ35 sounds like a VQ30 going through puberty.

blah, if you guys want to talk about sound...VE owns it all...you all even admit they are loud and the VQ is quiet and smooth. VE is just a flat out loud SOB, ask carnal c30 he heard it bubble at idle.

can you relate?

You're right though, I couldn't have put it better myself. I just like the more refined sound better. Oh and as for maximas being quiet, have you heard mine? I can assure you that it's not.

Your so right. Seems VQ owners contradict themselves. First they say they respect the VE and it is a good reliable engine, now it is some POS breaking down? Then they say it is much louder of an engine and the VQ is so butter/quiet/refined... Oh well...I dont know what I am doing with this POS 3rd gen still.

You know I love your car, it's just the theme of the thread so it's all in fun.

I need to get rid of my POS VQ and get me a third gen, so I can get those cools 4DSC badges
