noise up front

I have a noise coming from front of my car. It rattels when I go over bumps. I checked the axels there is a little play in the joints. I can shake them in to the tranny, and back out to the wheel, back and forth, and they feel a little loose. Is this play normal?

I don't think it's normal. Do you get a vibration from the steering wheel? I do on my 98 with 75000 miles. Very annoying. It started with strange noises from the front end going over bumps. It's a shame that Nissan doesn't use better suppliers, because it wouldn't cost that much more when you consider the labor in replacing stuff that breaks.

Sometimes they foot the bill under warranty, even when dealers don't actually do the work and put the replacement parts into their stock. It's like going to the trouble of doing a new tile floor and cheesing out on the subfloor, so you have to take everything back up and do it again.

Now that Maximas are made in the USA we shouldn't have any more of these issues........
