Does anyone know exactly what gives the 2000 maxima more power over the 1995-1999's? The reason I ask is that I have a 95 and I'm going to do a motor swap, and I thought of putting in a 2000 but than I can't use the URPD ECU or can I? If it only the ECU that gives it the power than with the UPRD ECU on my 1995 motor it should be the same. More power+more boost= more fun
Thanks

No offense, but if you have to ask that question, then a motor swap (plus all the eletronics) is out of your reach.

Sensors, ECU, controls, wiring, is all very, very different. The harnesses and wiring on a 4th gen varies from year to year. You could use a 5th gen engine, but you would need all the wiring harneses, ECU, TCU, BCU, sensors (external/internal)...All you need to do is buy a 2000/2001 from the front bumper to the back of the front seats (that will include airbag sensors).

Just get a 2000 and put 4th gen panels on it.

Sweet paint,
It was just a thought to get a few extra HP's out of the motor. I found a 95 motor with 53k for a aprox $1,000. Than I'm going to have sent out and worked. I'm working on a sponsorship deal with Jasper to do the motor work. Extrude hone, pistons, valves, maybe lower compression to run more boost and a few other goodies if all goes well. Just gotta keep my fingers crossed.
Lower compression + more boost= tons o' fun.

I hope you have your custom ecu all worked out. I don't think the stock ecu is gonna like the lower compression.

modding, etc., but I know enough to know that "why does a 2000 Maxima have 32 more ponies with the same engine" is a question easily answered in every major car magazine and even Nissan's website.....it's called an exhaust system....

Jeff, did you know that the max will have whatever hp you want because you FEEL that it should. So, if you FEEL that the VE should have 220 ponies, the ECU will modify the fuel maps/timing/etc. Extrude hone stuff? Then the ECU will allow more ponies as well..

It's all in how you send the vibes to your car....

To me, it makes no sense to buy a motor for your 95 that is a 95 motor.....Why?.....Downtime?.....Motor's bad?......

I'm confused....

The exhaust is pretty efficient, but the most came from the new intake configuration.

nothing wrong with my motor, and I have a NEW motor (1900 miles on it) sitting next to my car.

The motor in my car currently has 130,000mi. I thought that it should be rebulit or in this case replaced before I start pounding the pavement with supercharged power. The car runs fine now but with the added power I figured that the current motor may not take it very well. Better safe than sorry I thought.
