failed smog check with PR CAI

After taking my car to a smog check shop this weekend, I was informed by the mechanic that my car would not pass unless I had a sticker on my Place Racing Cold Air Intake stating that it is street legal. I do not remember receiving such a sticker with the intake and phone calls to Place Racing have been unanswered. Does anyone know how I can find out if the PR CAI is street legal, and how to prove it to my mechanic?

Does anyone know where I can get the sticker my mechanic wants? Or does anyone have it scanned so I can print it out and paste it on there myself? My smog check deadline is coming up and I really don't want to have to revert it to stock but it seems like that is what I may have to do.

I am in California if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

hes talking about the smog exempt sticker which PR doesnt give. I passed with an intake before but the one thing that got me was that I didnt have my ambient air temp sensor plugged in that thats all he said was wrong and didnt say a word about the intake except that the sensor needs to be plugged in.

That mechanic is sorta being a d1ck, most won't care as long as you pass the emissions test. Take your car to a different shop.

Yeah, he is looking for a CARB Exempt sticker like the Stillen Supercharger has, and he ain't gunna find it. Technically, since it's not stock, and there's no CARB sticker, it fails "visual inspection." Some places are sticklers about it, others aren't. Just take it somewhere else, like a cheapo gas station maybe. I haven't had to smog yet, but I think that will work.

Does the exemption number on the sticker tell the mechanic what kind of car the intake is for? If not, I think I should be okay if I use my friend's CARB exemption sticker as long as the intake looks somewhat like mine (he drives an Acura).

It costs me around $30 for each smog check, and my current mechanic has promised to pass me if I get the sticker (or return it to stock), so I would really like to save the money if it is possible. I certainly would like to avoid having to fail multiple smog checks--and paying for them all--because I do not have the proper sticker.

Thanks for the help.
