They told me... under 21..check, bmw m3 sports car..check, brookline near downtown high risk area...check...sir 3800 dollars...i swear i shed a tear.. With that over with, I guess i'm sticking with a maxima... is it at all possible to make it faster than the m3.. how? + I want to get stick..so i'll sell this one need be. thanks

you want faster than M3? no problem. slap on a big turbo, a little nitrous and you're in the 12s at least.

you want it to handle better than M3? hmmm.....

until the first time you have to fix it... the minimum Saab repair bill is $650, no matter what the job.

calm down a little, keep your maxima another year, mature some, then buy a faster car. From the sounds of it a faster car is just going to get you killed quicker.

im with this guy. but if you MUST have a faster car, just slap some nitrous on your auto, beef up the tranny, and go have fun.

The prior generation really isn't God's gift in terms of acceleration. They're 14.2-14.6@96-98mph cars. That's easily within the realm of a bolt-on NA 4th gen (look at my sig). That is a SC'd M3 that shows up at my track and he typically gets 13.6-13.8@104mph. I plan on beating that if I get the Stillen SC.

In terms of handling, there's really no comparison. The Maxima can be made to handle very well, but you'll never get the same kind of "BMW-tuning".

We have an E46 M3 and had an E36. I've driven the Audis, and they're close but no cigar. The S4 is still a turbocharged engine, and as such has a little lag (right where you don't want it -- around 3,000 rpm). The E46 is N/A -- variable timing (and other smoke and mirrors) send it over 330 hp. It's awesome, never a laggy range in sight. As for the handling, I think our E36 was the best, the S4 feels a little top-heavy. I think the E46 wheels are too big and actually reduce tire spin and grip in turns. May also be b/c of the tires, I'm really partial to the pilots that came on the E36's.

just my opinions on the matter

19-year-olds don't need to be driving around in m3's. wtf are you going to have left to look forward to when you actually establish yourself?

you think 19 is young? I graduated from highschool last year... let's see, I believe there were 1 16-year-olds who had brand new E46 M3's and an 18 year old w/ an E46 M3...

it just depends on how much money daddy and mommy has

yeah i know that lots of kids have nice cars, i just said that they shouldn't. for their own sake actually. read on...

not that i want to be getting in a big discussion about any of this (ok i do), but i come from a fairly well-off family (we have six cars including an e46 m3, a 911 and a suburban -- all my parents') and i'm really happy that "mommy and daddy" didn't buy me an expensive car. i've had the same old maxima for years and it's been a lesson in how to maintain a car yourself and be proud of your own work. something the more spoiled kids don't get. i went to a pretty rich-kid-type university and let me tell you nobody there with an m3 or an x-type or a clk430 knew the value of what they had.

plus remember... we're the first generation that won't meet their parents' standard of living. so hopefully mommy and daddy will also support them when they can't find a job or afford a place to live. hey maybe they can live in their E46's! guess that's why the rear seats fold down. (hmmm do i sound conflicted about my status in life? naw, not me. never.)

well if the parents have the money, i see no reason to lavish their kids w/ expensive cars except ONE THING...

wtf is a newbie driver going to do w/ one of the most powerful cars on the road?? that's the only problem I have w/ it...

young teens = immature

immature kids + powerful cars = TROUBLE

good to hear. take solace in the fact that when you can afford your m3, you'll actually deserve it.
