I need a sub box for the max. A 10" with about 300w will provide all the bass I need. I thought about two 10s, but they will weight much heavier. Twice as much. By giving one sub more power, I can get more bass out that one sub. This will cut down on the weight of the overall box. I always wanted a spare tire enclosure, but after they lay enough fiberglass to make a sturdy enclosure it will weight as much as if it was made out of MDF. I thinking about a 8" Kicker Solobaric L7 sub power by RF Punch 360A2. The box will be custom made to fire into the ski hatch that's in the rear seat. The box will be build around the RSTB. What do you think?

yeah that sounds good about the bass in a small space the L7 are dvc so it is like having two 8's in one box and put a good bit of power to it but not too much or you will have way to much bass over your highs unless that is what you like....and by having the box centered like you said will help out with weight distribution this is what I have and I need trunk space and something simple because I have a family two little boys so I need trunk space...I don't compete in any stero shows but it is nice functional and simple it is not the best but it works you won't see it in a a magazine...

The only thing I question is if it should be fired into the ski hatch. . . I have found that my soloberic 12 sounds much better when it is fired toward the back of the trunk. . .

very true depending on the type of bass you want and the music you listen too....

Thanks for the complements
I have a 10W6 with a RF100a2 right now. The JL sub is awesome, but it needs more power. The setup was from my old car, so it's just plain old box. Since the hatch is a perfect square, I thought the Kicker L7 will be great for the purpose. Since the car is going to be in the shop, I'll have them build a simple amp rack to mount amps, distribution box, and ground box.

I have been to few shows and collected few awards. Mostly local ones. I won the NIRA 4 door amateur at Maryland International Raceway last year. I'll try to hit more shows next year and hopefully go down for NOPI.

My rims are in transit from Japan. Should be in another 4 weeks. Don't worry. I'll post some pictures

I know. The sub usually sounds better and louder when firing towards the rear of the car. One thing is for sure. If my ski hatch is down, more bass gets into the car. I believe the 5th gen Bose comes with a small subwoofer mounted at the same spot. I want it to look nice, so firing into the ski hatch will look trick. I'll probably get them to put plexiglass to see the back of the sub. Now, I wonder if I should get rid of the RSTB. The damn thing gets in the way of alot of things. It doesn't really do much for performance.

If I am right, the 5th Gen BOSE system comes with a free air sub mounted in the rear deck. . . If you wanted to go with the same effect, you could always try a Kicker Free Air sub and then buy a 5th Gen Bose cover to go over it. . . I was just wondering about the facing forward thing though. . . It sounds like a good setup.
