I have an 01 SE manual, my dad has a 93 MR2. I drove his car for three weeks and within that time I learned the transmission, and taught myself how to heel and toe flawlessly. Since I got my car and started trying, I'm not worth a f()k. I always over rev or under rev when I blip the throttle. Is it me or the damn car, also, the pedals on the Max are nowhere near where they should be, they're all unaligned and $hit. HAHA. Is this really bad for the car and I should just keep practicing. My gas pedal is kinda strange tho, I can rest my foot on it and it won't move, it takes some force to push down, are all Max's like that or should I have it looked at? Sorry, but this really pisses me off, I thought I was better than this.

Heel toe manuvers are different from car to car. An MR2 will be much different from a max just like a mustang, camero, camry, accord, etc. will all be different from each other. Get a good feel for the max and eventualy it should work out.

Some aftermarket pedals and lots of practice.

I had the same problem at first, coming from a Protege, which had perfectly placed pedals. First, you need a set of aftermarket pedal pads - that will bring the edges of the pedals closer together. The other problem is the silence and revability of the engine, and feel of the throttle linkage - unfortunately, that just takes practice.

I love to shift. I learned to drive in a fun 4-on-the-floor Opel 1900 back in 1975, and I have owned 4 different manual shift cars in my life since then. Each had unique shifting characteristics:
-All of them had slightly different pedal configurations.
-Mustang: Clutch pedal hard to push, engaged late.
-Integras: Clutch pedal easy to push, engaged early.
-Most had enough engine noise to "shift by ear".
-My Maxima was so quiet (stock), I had to keep a close eye on the tach when I first got it. (With exhaust mods, it is easier to hear now...)

Everytime I got a new car, I had to go through a period of adjustment. I had to learn how to shift smoothly, keep from stalling, avoid missing shifts, etc. I guess that has been one of the fun parts of getting a new car! But I will say this: Everytime I have taken a test-drive, I still shifted 500% better than the salesman! (Jerk, bog, stutter, stall!) Enjoy.
