I'd think I'd like to keep my airbags when going over 100mph

I think you'll need a hub that's made specifically for your yr's Maxima.

I had done some research when I was really tempted to get a Momo 350mm st.wh. a year ago. You might also want to look into the legal (i.e. Ontatio Highway Traffic Act) and insurance coverage issues in case you get into a collision. I think there may be requirements that if you car comes with an airbag equipped steering wheel, you can't replace replace that with an s.wh. without an airbag or else you void certain insurance coverage benefits. The other issue is installing an aftermarket s.wh. that's got a smaller dia. than oem. There's also some insurance or legal issue around that. I had been cautioned about that by a couple vendors. They seemed quite concerned abou covering their butts (maybe for liability reasons) that the bagless st.wh. be used for off-road or show use only. I know this may be a huge amount of legla mumbo jumbo but in the off- chance something happens & the cops get involved, it's generally a good idea not to add fuel to the fire.

I'm not sure about the legality, but an insurance adjustor told me to my face 'If there is any tampering with an airbag or restraint device and you're in an accident, we will not pay a dime for medical injuries'. My CRX had a Momo wheel in it when it was totaled. When she asked if it had an airbag before, I asked if it mattered and she replied with that. So I would never even think about changing the wheel out unless it is a strict track/show car. The only thing I would do is swap my ugly 96 wheel to a 97-99 SE wheel with the airbag.
