How to handle non-paying bidders on eBay?

Hi fellas,

I have encountered problems with a couple buyers on eBay and I'm not sure how to handle the situation.

I think that eventually I will have to end up filing a "non-paying bidder alert". My question is...if I file a non-paying bidder alert can the buyer still leave me negative feedback??

Thanks,
Kevin

yeah he can, the key to going around it is waiting 59 days and 23 hours and 59 mins.....and then you leave the negative feedback, by the time he gets the feedback, he wouldnt have any time to counteract :-D (after 60 days u cant leave feedback)

Are you sure they can still leave negative feedback after I file a non-paying bidder alert? I thought that eBay would at least protect the seller some way. That is the drawback with eBay...people can just leave retalitory feedback when ever they please.

Comments or ways to handle the situation are welcome.

Thanks

about all you can do is bother the crap out of them. and thats only if you have nothing else to do. You can email them and also request their information on ebay, sometimes it can be fake. Its some button on some page somewhere, that will email you their info. At that point you can call them, and mail them a bill..Like I said bothering the crap out of them. If your auctions were for a small amount of money, then I dunno, but if you had a big item.. that stinks. if you had other people bid email them and give them an offer. see if they bite.

you also should consider square trade i think it is, i have never used it, it could cost money, and who knows, if the person doesnt want to pay, then you may never get the money.

They can still leave whatever feedback they please. Any time they want. It's a misconception that after 90 days they can't leave feedback for you anymore. They can leave it indefinitely. The only solace you have is that if they get 3 NPB's, they get suspended. I think about 90% of the people I file NPB's for get suspended pretty soon thereafter since I'm not the only one they're screwing.

Ebay protects no one, all they want is their fees. They don't protect the buyer, don't protect the seller, only themselves. And here's the best part. If someone leaves a false feedback for you, even if you filed the NPB, and they're blatantly lying, eBay won't remove the feedback unless you pay the $20 for Squaretrade arbitration. eBay will milk people for everything they can.

Oh, plenty of people pay it to maintain their 100% ratio. I lost that a long time ago, and stopped caring a long time ago. Most people know that you can't please anyone, so they look at the overall picture. Plus eBay has some of the most unreasonable people.

You always have a chance to respond after negative feedback and I'm almost positive you can get e-bay to get rid of feedback that may be unfair by filing a report.

i buying off e-bay right now. I just got screwed trying to buy iridium plugs of e-bay. The guy had no negative feedback when I paid him...but now check out his feedback...he is ripping everyone off the way it looks! It's been over a month and no response and no plugs!

Yeah Man That Sucks, I just bought some plugs from that guy and had no problems. Even had fast delivery, must have been one of the lucky ones.

Yeah, he had good feedback when I bought them! When did you get the plugs? How do you like the iridiums? After 2 weeks of waiting he responded to my e-mail saying he was busy w/work and would send them asap...I still haven't got them form the 18th of May and he won't respond to me anymore...and looks like he is doing the same to everyone else! I'm investigating how to cancel payment and file fraud reports now... This leaves me really worried about buying online like this. I'm glad you got yours anyway...hopefully I'll get it worked out or my $$$ back! I need plugs!

just remember to file a non-paying bidder report to ebay, cuz ebay will give the 5% or whatever percentage they take from the winning bid. As for negative feedback.. if you keep bugging ebay, they CAN take it off.. but just depend how much you bug them, and have a legit reason.
good luck

If you paid via Paypal, there is a buyers protection policy. Just file that, and then Paypal will attempt to get your money back, most times they just take it back whenever money goes into the account.
Otherwise, if you paid via Paypal with a credit card you can just contact your credit card company and ask them to charge back the amount.

I believe you are wrong about being able to leave feedback indefinitely. This is straight from ebay's help page:

Topics > My Account > Feedback > Leaving Feedback

Notes:

You have 90 days after making a sale or purchase to leave feedback for the other member.

---

AKAICEBERG, write them off and put them on your block list. Send them all the required emails/warning/"last calls" you want. I usually go right up to filing NPB and sometimes do, sometimes don't... depends on how I feel that day. It's not worth the headache. You can never "make" someone pay so if s/he doensn't want it, what's the use fretting over it? Then relist the item and sell it again.

No, it's possible. I thought it was impossible too, but check out the feedback forums there. They even explain how to circumvent the 90 day rule. You have to be eBay savvy, but it's possible. Someone did it to me a while back. 4 months after the auction, I somehow got a neg from them.

You're a total idiot. And people like you are just about the whole reason that the feedback system on eBay doesn't work.

Luckily most morons like you get suspended from eBay pretty quickly.

I read the first few pages of the feedback forums and didn't see how. Please let me know.

The buyer tried sending me payment through qchex without my authorization (it wasn't a payment type I accepted) and I've sent him at least 4 e-mails over the last month about it and he's slowly stopped responding. I haven't heard from him for about two weeks.

What should I do? He clearly is not a reliable or honest buyer, -2 feedback rating (didn't even know negative was possible) and I don't want to ruin my feedback rating.

BTW, he had zero feedback when he purchased the item. Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

If he's already at -2, then hopefully he's been reported as a non paying bidder by those other 2 sellers. If you file an NPB report against him, that would make three, and eBay automatically suspends him and he would not be able to leave a negative feedback for you. Plus you'd get your final value fees back.

I've had to do this to a lot of people unfortunately. Many times, I was the 3rd, and they can't leave a neg. Good luck.

off the subject a bit, but i have 2 ebay accounts ones at 160 at something like 97 percent and the other at 76 and 99 percent or close. out of all those transactions as a buyer and seller, the only problem i ran into was some punk kid sold me a xbox game and it was all scrathed up, and then one person tried to get me to pay 4 times the normal shipping charge, cause i flat out got a steal of a deal. i told him i would pay what he was asking in the auction, he told me no deal, i left him negative and he got me back. very uncool because it was his fault. anyways im getting to this. I have bought maxima things off ebay. a sarona rear bumper for one. still havent gotten it installed yet, but i wanted to ask about the maxima.org trading community or selling community. How reliable is it compared to ebay, and do most members use it. i have a wings west super style wing i may tell people about at the org instead of using ebay first. but as a buyer on maxima.org. is it safe or like ebay ? any comments
