Need Help Immediately

Does anyone know of a mechanic that can rebuild engines in the DC area? I was driving my car having fun saturday night in fairfax and I did the stupidiest thing on the planet. I was in Third gear doing about 95 and I accidentially shifted into second instead of fourth. So the car is making a loud clicking noise and the oil light is on. I took it to Nissan and they said that my timing chain is loose and the oil pump is gone. They also said that there is metal in the engine. The price they quote to fix the car is upward of 6 grand!! Can anyone help me reduce that price. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you probably managed to cause some valve damage hence the metal.

I probably caused all types of problems! How difficult is it to replace an engine? And how much do you think it will cost?

Ouch . Sorry to hear that, I remember watching a video of an RSX doing that same thing, he ripped it into around 11000 RPM's.

Auto's rule (let the flaming begin).
Try salvage yards for a low mileage used one. Or you can check ebay or carparts.com. Most likely will be cheaper to replace than repair because of labor involved.
BTW, 95mph is way over any posted speed limit in the DC area.

there was a japan vq30de with the VI installed and it was nvr mounted so it was brand new for 2500

http://www.car-part.com

you can find an engine for $500 - $800 and labor would be probably $1000..

check a couple shops in the area first on labor then check that site for an engine.. have them drop ship it to the place... search nationwide.. just bite the shipping.. you will get better prices nationwise anyway.. try to go with the same year as your car so all the sensors match up perfectly or it could turn into a nightmare

Sorry about the speed limit, I was enjoying my Max! You know how that is sometimes. I know this maybe a stupid question, but is it possible to use a 6speed trani on a 99max? Also do I need to replace my clutch when I replace the engine? Thanks for all you help!

5spd Trannies are rod shifters .. 6spds are cable shifters.. it could work.. but it would cost you a bit more to have it done.. so far no one has done it to my knowledge..

Nope.. but since they are done there.. if it needs doing.. then would be a good time..
