First Vented 4th Gen Carbonfiber Hood Prototype (Pics)

Please excuse the markings, I had to make some corrections over the prototype. No price info yet or release date set. Barring any major international shipping disasters, I anticipate the production pieces to be available in mid-late Fall, 2003 (along with some other items). The hood was based on the OE-style carbonfiber hoods that I currently sell. Everyone who purchased the OE-style carbonfiber hood from me had no fitment issues. Anyway, here you go:

Finally we're getting some functional hood ideas. How about this though, can you make a hood with the big vent in the middle, one like the EVO where the big hole in the hood is covered with mesh or something for the hot air to escape and the two side vents with one being over the intake...

The hood looks good from what I can tell. I'd love to have a nice light weight hood with some sorta scoop setup. What would really make this a great addition is if it could be made fully functional with the addition of some sort of high flow air filter that got air dammed into one of the scoop openings. The hood could be offered with or without the air filter option/kit. Bottom line though is the hood looks good. Please post a picture of the final product mounted on a Maxima and painted.

...using that as basis for the skeleton.

ivelweyz: Big vent like the EVO.. do u also know that the EVO8 hood is aluminum based and has a built-in heatshield? I'm trying to keep the cost down, but not to the extent of making it out of paper.

5th genners... I'd like to make products for 2K+ guys but no one is approaching me in terms of using their Max as a test car, or 'donate' parts such as hoods, fenders to prototype for future products.

dam, ok ange, i've been trying to avoid u for so long because u were coming out with so much good stuff and i was really trying to stop spending lol but i think i'm going to get this when it comes out depending on how it looks. Vented hood, so sweet. My only question is will this prevent water from entering and going into parts that dont like water such as battery area, HIDS, etc.? i know u already thought about this but just figure i ask to reassure myself.

Will this be available in Fiber glass so someone could paint it. I would just like this hood painted to match my hood.

LOL.. I love the Sarona hood.. but what they actually REUSE the stock hood by cutting out the center section out and molding on the pre-made 'vented' section and charge $700 for the work ...not for an actual 'new' hood persay. I'll post pics of the undersection on Monday night to show u.

My cf vented hood will have completely secure skeleton support. You won't be paying $700, that's for sure.. unless you really want to

Sarona is the first to make it for the Maxima application. Keep in mind that this is very popular design among aftermarket vented hoods (available in Hondas, Mitsubishi etc.)
