New clutch installed and now shifter problems?

Well, had the act and findanza installed, then get the dealership to take that out and install a factory clutch. (This is beside the point)

So when I shift into 2nd or 4th or Reverse It will go into gear, but the shifter doesn't stop firmly, it has tones of play and feels really rubbery. I can pull it back and it continues to move, doesn't stop like it is supposed to? All the top gears are fine. Anyone have any ideas what this issue is?

Should like there is something wrong with the shift linkage. I'd go back and have the dealer who did the work go over it again.

Get under the car and make sure that the rod that is the shifter "support" rod is in place. It might have come unbolted. Feels just like you describe.

What exactly is the purpose of the support rod? Just to make sure that the transmission is the correct distance from the shifter?

Take those 3 bolts that hold it to the tranny off and you will see what it does. You cant shift w/o it. Like a brace for the shifter.

I have taken it off (only 2 bolts). I don't see how it affects the shifter rod.

Thanks for all the info!

I hope the dealer can get this done quickly. Don't have time to mess with this anymore!

You didnt take it all the way off or you would see that you cant shift easy w/o it.

All the way off. I still do not see how it helps in shifting. I think it just keeps the transmission angled correctly.
