This makes me not want to buy from Stillen

I was Browsing Automotiveforums.com and saw this thread. Its what happened to a guy when he called stillen about his Muffler. It makes me not want to do business with them.

That seems pretty much normal when dealing with them. Personally, I will never buy any of their products (directly, or from a dealer)

Stillen is a ****** joke. They think that no matter how ****ty they are to people they will still come back because of their superior product.

I have never had an issue dealing with Stillen when it came to their actual products. Now as far as products in their catalog that aren't ever really going to come out....

the only thing i would get from stillen is their body kit, other than tat u can probably pick up similar parts tat serves its function. i.e.: intake, exhaust, strutbar, etc.

1)It doesn't cost $100 to ship a muffler, more like 20-25 bucks via UPS. You can blow that in 20 minutes at Hooters over two beers and a plate of wings.

2)They offered him repair or replacement of a defective part - they stood behind their product.

3)Their policy is that you pay for return freight - Lots of companys have the same policy, mine included and our customers don't cry about it. Climbing up to top management to complain about 25 bucks is ridiculous.

If you purchase something from a local chain store and find it defective when you get home, do you ask for gas and toll reimbursement when you bring it back? Sorry but that guy cried a bit to much over spilled milk.

That's not right. How the f*ck does Stillen (or anyone for that matter) sell a broken muffler and not be responsible for fixing it? I understand they don't exactly have a repair shop down the block from this guy's house. But the very least they can do is send him a new one and take the broken one back. That's wrong.

If you look at it this way, he first paid roughly ~25 originally to ship it to him. It would cost him another ~25 to ship it back to stillen. Finally it would cost another ~25 to ship it back to him. That comes to about $75.. then again he is paying for a cheap muffler in the meantime..

i semi agree...but courtesy goes a long way here. just explain to the customer why they can't pick up shipping cost. returning calls would be nice also.

in reality if stillen is such a big shot i'm sure they could've issued a call ticket or something and had the package picked up..since it's only $25 bucks.

I had my share of problems with Stillen, I can't really say about the quality of their product, but I definitly give their customer service a BIG THUMBS Down!!

they make Great rear sway bars and FSTB but I would probably buy other stuff from somebody else. Such as exhausts and intakes....etc.

i could understand the policy of charging your freight, but being rude to customers is totally out of hand

I agree that 25 bucks isnt a lot and they stood by their warranty but the way the CUSTOMER SERVICE rep spoke to the customer is down right ridiculous. Showed no care, from the beginning to end he showed no remorse. Although most companies work warranties the same way stillen does, i would be ****ed out my mind if i bought a 300 dollar muffler and the instant u put it on u already find problems. The pain just adds up from not calling back to being hung up on, although i would have called back again instead of waiting for a call back. Business is business but i expect this attitude from a sales person, not customer service

Is there anything that Stillen makes that anybody has to have? imho not really. It's way overpriced too, I don't care if a person is rich, that doesn't mean that they should go out of their way to waste money.

It's hard to believe that in this economy that there are companies in business that have poor customer service. I told the story of my Visa and the reward points. They didn't even have the courtesy to reply, which I think is required if I send a letter via US mail. Since I emailed, they don't have to reply. They simply put like $40 on my account without even giving me an explanation. Sure, I'll take the money, but I'm still not a satisfied customer.

My hunch is that people give poor customer service not because they don't want your business, they are so mismanaged already that they can't meet their current demand, so they can't even dream of taking on more business. They may be cocky, but in such a situation a business cannot grow. my .02
