Which tranny?

Here's the deal a few days ago i was driving down a side street by my house doing mybe 20mph and i dove over a dip. And all of a sudden (while still in gear) my car just starts to few rev? So i coast down the road and try all my gears. Every gear does the same thing, put it into gear let the clutch out, motor just free revs. YOu can hear soemthing rattling in the tranny too. I have asked alot of people and pretty much everyone is as lost on this as me. My clutch is working, everything is moving fine on what i can see on the tranny. So anyways im just going to pick up a used tranny but when i called they keep telling me there is 4 different ones to choose from? I have a 96 SE 5-speed, i know some max's and I30 came with LSD, and most didnt. I would like to get the LSD model if they have it but everyone i speek to doesnt know what the hell is going on. Please if someone could tell me which trannys will fit, and if there is some kindof number i could tell the guys at the junkyard.

Thanks Rich

search for an I30 manual tranny.. or a maxima with non-locking diff.. i think its non-locking diff.. but you can tell by the Tranny VIN.. check the Fourth Gen FAQ's for the tranny VIN

No, search for the LOCKING-diff on the Maxima. Non-locking is the regular tranny. But as Sprint also said, you can search for the Infiniti I30 tranny as well.....

I just might pick up one, if i have enought money left over. Im still little lost on which tranny i need, see on Car-parts.com they have a list on tranny codes like this:

M.T., locking differential, thru 10/95
M.T., locking differential, from 11/95
M.T., non-locking differential, thru 10/95
M.T., non-locking differential, from 11/95

Where do i find out which date my car falls into or does it not matter?

Different axle (driver?) If you're going from locking -> non-locking (or the other way around), you'll need a new axle.
