heater problems

94 Maxima Sohc Gxe question:

My heater would NOT turns on at all regardless of how high I turned the temp up to. I even tried to max it out and and the AC keeps coming out. This is really weird. The only solution I have so far was to un hook the two vacuum hoses behind the PCV valve and throttle body, then the heater would starts to pump. But if I turn off the heater and turn it back on again, it's gone, no more heats but only AC.

I know this is too early to think about it but I might as well get it fixed before winter hits me.

So would anyone here has any solution to problems that you could please suggest to me? Would you think that my vacuum pipe is bad? I just replaced it with silicone hoses and the problem still persists. Btw, the vacuum hoses I am referring to is the one behind the trottle body and pcv valve, right next to the Nissan factory silver sticker. I don't even know what that system is called but it has something to do with the vacuum involvement. Do you think I should replace it and what does it called? Anyone know the part number for it?

Thanks

I don't know if 3rd gens are like 4th gens, but check the air mix door adjustment. You'd probably have to get behind the dash and trace the ducts towards the heater core.
Any other ideas?
