Impressions of lowering, intake, STS, and other stuff
Impressions of lowering, intake, STS, and other stuff
I finally got my car back from the shop, and got the new tranny in it. Along with that, I got a B&M STS installed, Frankencar intake, new shift boot and e-brake boot leather, 1-piece headlights, and gunmetal gauge rings. In addition, I also cut off the lower 3 vertical bars on my bumper and painted my silver mesh grille black. Oh yea, and now it's lowered on H&R and KYB AGX.
The B&M sure is short.....and from what I can tell quite notchy. This may be because I've never driven another car with a STS, but its still kinda hard to find 3rd gear sometimes. Otherwise, the shifts feel pretty crisp and real short.
The Frankencar midpipe and Apexi filter are very nice. I needed to get some longer hoses, but otherwise installation was pretty easy. Boy oh boy does this make the car sound angry, its freaking awesome!! Even if it doesn't make me faster, I would keep it just for the sound!
The new shift/e brake boot leather is real good quality. I think I bought it from bestshiftboots.com. However, installation was difficult. I tried to get the metal from the original e brake to go in the slits in the leather, but it was too hard to get in, so I cut it. The guy who took out my original shift boot lost it, so I don't have any metal to hold the shift boot to the console
. I don't really know what to do about it now.
The 1 piece headlights are awesome. Some wire splicing was needed to make the wires go together, and the blinkers don't work yet, but these look AWESOME! nuff said....
The lowering feels pretty good to me. However, I think part of my rear suspension is rattling. How do I go about pinpointing the problem?
Another problem: Now I can basically "hear" my car rev through my stereo. I'm pretty darn sure this wasn't there before I dropped the car off for lowering. Its basically a wizzing sound coming through the speakers, and it corresponds to my current rev. What causes this, and what can be done to fix it?
I would love to show you guys pics, but alas, I lost my digi cam for the moment
. Soon though....
