Auto max owners with intakes...

I am just curious as to what intake you have and how you like the sound? On my 99 max I had it was auto and I tried like 3 intakes but as we all know the auto makes a bad drone on a lot of intakes...for my 2k2 I am thinking about trying the injen as I hear they are pretty quiet? Any opinions would be appreciated

The Injen is not quiet. Driving normally you don't hear it, just as any other intake. Open it up and it roars like no other.

How does your intake drone? My Frankencar intake has never droned before... I'm assuming you mean it drones while you're going at a constant speed... Of course when you're accelerating past 3.5k you will hear it roar, every intake is like that...

I guess you could consider it drone when you are traveling up a large hill on the highway with overdrive off at around 65-70 but thats about the only time I hear my intake for more than 10 seconds.

i have BOMz racing cold air intake w/ K&N filter. it works like a place racing, and i definetly feel gains rite after i installed it.

my CAI doesn't drone at all, but u'll hear a V8 roar at full throttle. regular crusing you can hear the "psssssss....." CAI sound comin outta K&N. the midpipe wasn't some cheap plastic pipe. and it came with the real K&N filter. here is a review i did LONG TIME ago on vqpower.com >> http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...owcontent&id=6

I have a Injen and you can check out the video clip on page 6 on my page. It was taken when I was auto-x'ing. I am happy with it the intake. Let me know what you think about the clip.

pretty shure that the HAI intakes may "seem" louder because its under the hood and closer the the driver but outside the car, a CAI probably would be louder. also intakes with a stock manifold was way louder than one with a VIM, your 2k2 would probably sound different than your non VIM 99

I had tried many aftermarket intakes too and recently installed the Injen's intake. It is much quieter than others and it will definately roar under hard acceleration...but the quality of sound is the best I've heard so far. Ofcourse, this is just my opinion so PLEASE no flame from those of different aftermarket intakes!

It sounds awesome. Is that with a stock muffler? I read through your site and didn't see any other mods listed.

By the way, nice driving.

I know it might not apply directly for you, since you've got a 4th and 5th gen, but on my 3rd gen, I've got a 4th gen PRCAI with K&N filter, and I can attest to that "droning" sound. But the upside to that, is that when I hit the throttle, I hear that "pssshhh" sound (sorta like when you purge nitrous) which is pretty impressive.

And yeah, I've heard that Injen intakes are a bit quieter, but I was also wondering WHY?

Yeah I have them listed on page 1 of my site...and yes this is with the stock muffler. I just bought some lighter rims and better tires, this should help me with my times. BTW, I don't have a y-pipe yet...this weekend I will

Thanks for the props

ya no droning from my GAB/OSCAI setup. Its not that loud either... check the homepage for pics. I find that the droning comes from my muffler... eventually will do something bout that, but in the meantime its not bad

I made my own intake with 3" exhaust piping and a super street filter. Doesn't make a drone. Intake doesn't make the noise. If u run the engine without the intake piping on it still makes equal noise. I don't really know what u mean by droning intake cause mine sounds like a f'in camaro.
