Hydrolocked motor

Last night from bad weather... my car got hurt bad.

The car in front of me splashed water into my intake, and i hit a big puddle right after. Water got sucked into the motor. It's definately toast, there's holes in the side/bottem of the block.

I'm really contemplating giving up on this... all that time/energy....

hate to say it, but i got owned by a puddle of water

Anyway, I may be returning to stock depending on how much response i can get.

Here's what's for sale.

Well, there's nice holes in the side of the motor... and you can hear nice thunks, clunks and smashing going on in there...

That really sucks. You had a SCCAI, right?

Any pics of the damage?

My filter sits behind where my right foglight would have been.

Mine too. I've got my driving light still in place, but this is scary. If it starts raining hard enough to flood around here I'm going to disconnect the intake at the blower inlet 'til the roads dry up.

Water doesn't compress well.

Water fills the combustion chamber.

Engine tries to compress it...can't.

Rod breaks because something's got to give.

Engine keeps spinning.

Broken rod goes through block.

Ummmmm, you got full coverage on the car?
Let the insurance buy you a new engine. what happened is considered a no-fault accident usually- just like if you'd been caught in a hailstorm and ruined the paint, or a deer ran out in front of you and FUBAR'd the front end.

Really? I never would have thought to contact insurance about something like that.

It says later in the post that you were only in 4-5 inches of water. I was s/c in the past and always wondered what would happen if the entire filter was submersed while running. I know the s/c is like a huge vac, but I thought that the whole crossover pipe would have to be filled and completely and then the upper intake also. Of course it would only need to fill one cylinder partly with water to create a non-compressible charge so I guess my whole theory is shot. Sorry to hear about the blown engine, but good used ones are available.
