Check your drainage tube for your sunroof. It's located near the muffler on the passenger side bumper (it looks like a little nipple if you go underneath the car).

The rubber thing that holds the hose (the end of the hose is metal) could disintegrate and leave the hose clunking (metal-to-metal).

I thought it was my license plate or my rear strut until I found out it was the tube.

But, if you don't have sunroof...don't bother.

It could be a blown rear strut. That's what happened when my car had a clunking sound from the rear.

When I switched back from Teins/KYBs to stock springs/struts I heard a clunking noise in the rear - mostly when going over rough/uneven pavement.

I took it to the dealer and they replaced the left rear strut under warranty and the noise is gone.

My mom's old Ford Tempo made that sound something awful after I heard a loud BANG one time on the road, got out, discovered there was hot fluid running down the left rear onto the ground that smelled vaguely like trans. fluid... it was strut oil

Over 1 year later, that car's still like that... it's hardly ever driven though

how can you tell if the shock is blown? i got the KYB GR2 from a GD not to long ago.....

one more think i found out is that i can duplicate this sound by pressing up and down on the driver side rear bummer.....

does this mean the shock is blown?

Have you installed a RSB on the car yet?

I believe we're a like in that when any noise comes from our cars we immedietly think the worst and usually when the real problem is discovered it ends up being nothing. We should have this done to us sometimes for always jumping to conclusions. Well on second thought maybe not.

Every thing being tight isn't the problem. As the bar travels up and down with the axel it can make contact with the pivot hinge if it is to far behind the axel. This hinge/bracket is in the center of the car a few inches behind the axle.
Check for marks in that location on the RSB and the metal on the bracket. I don't know how long ago you put it on but I would bet this is where the noise is coming from. If so you need to move the whole RSB forward until it is directly under the axle.

I'm barrowing one of your pic for this I hope you don't mind.

My $tillen bar made contact in a different spot.

In this pic my bar made contact going over large bumps with waht Nissan calls the lateral link & and control rod. towards the center of the car. You can see in the pic the larger lateral link that is just to the right of center. If the RSB is to far back it will also hit there.

Yes...If the bar is on the back side of the axle, the it could come in contact. Mine is centered with the axle so I did not have that problem.
