If you're having problems w/ your Bose speakers and/or amplifer, think again before you decide to junk the whole system (unless, of course you want to) or purchase a new speaker assembly. At the bottom is a TSB from Nissan and it details how you can just contact Clarion directly to exchange your Bose speaker/amplifier unit (yes, that's right, the whole assembly, not separates), and for $85, you can exchange it to have a remanufactured unit (made back to OEM specs) sent back to you.

I hope this helps some of you. Also, Clarion (1-800-347-8667, customer service) will fix your Bose decks as well, if you are having problems, however, you will have to call them to get an estimate on cost.

Remanufactured Bose Speakers

Classification: PI95-013

Date: July 5, 1995

REMANUFACTURED BOSE SPEAKERS

APPLIED VEHICLES:
All equipped with Bose system

SERVICE INFORMATION

Nissan and Clarion are working together to help keep down the cost of repairing Bose speakers after the customer's vehicle warranty has expired. Remanufactured Bose speakers are available as exchange units to replace incident speakers instead of installing new ones. This cost effective alternative should be explained to all customers requesting out-of-warranty speaker replacement.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

If a Bose speaker requires replacement in an out-of-warranty vehicle, please offer the customer the following option:

1. Remove the incident speaker as an assembly. The entire speaker enclosure must be intact for a valid exchange.

2. Send the complete speaker assembly and check or money order made out to Clarion Corporation of America to:

Clarion Corporation of America
Factory Service Center
Attention: Customer Service
661 W. Redondo Beach Blvd.
Gardena, CA 90247-4201

The cost is $85.00 per remanufactured speaker assembly

3. Clarion will send out an exchange (remanufactured) unit to the dealer.
4. Install the remanufactured speaker assembly.

Call Clarion's customer service at 1-800-347-8667 with any questions concerning Bose speaker exchanges.

Bose info

Thanks for the reply. I know I'm gonna have to use them sometime:-)

Question for you Maxima95GLE, I noticed in your sig that your GLE has the SE suspension. I know that the SE is stiffer, but how?? I know the springs are of a different rate, and I was curious . . . is the front sway bar also thicker in the SE than the GLE/GXE?? Thanks.

Stiffer shocks, stiffer springs, and strut mounts (as a Courtesy salesperson metioned to me, so I ordered a new one as well)—believer or not, that’s basically it, except for the rear axle beam assembly (which I didn’t want to replace—costs too much at $450), so I guess I don’t have a full SE suspension, but close enough. How much of a difference does it make? The car feels more sportier—I’d say about a 20% improvement over the stock GLE suspension in cornering and overall handling. The ride is more compliant and firm, but definitely not harsh at all, as you know. For an idea of the GLE ride, just think of your SE but a little more soft with some more lean in the corners. I'm glad I upgraded to stiffer SE shocks and springs.
