4th or 5th Gen???

Hey Guys I'm new here just wanted to say Hi and ask a basic question.

I am going Maxima Shopping again soon, and I need some input as to which
Gen of Maxima I should be buying.
My 92 SE is now RIP ( Due to a telephone Pole @ 130 KmH ) and I have been driving a civic ( I know I know...) And I want SO bad to get back into a Max SE.
The only problem I have is deciding wether or not to go with a 4th or 5th Gen.
The choice seems obvious, however...The cost differance between a 98 - 99 and a 2000 - 2001 seems to have quite the Gap. It also seems like the 0-60 and 1/4 Mile times of a 5th Gen Don't seem to be that much higher for extra cost.
My main Choices are as mentioned above, a 98 - 99 or 2000 - 2001. Is it worth it to get into the newer Model for other than obvious reasons? Am I gaining anything else other than a newer Bodystyle??
I know the Numbers are 190 HP vs 222 - 227...
My plans are a Basic Highway Touring Car, 18's, Bolt on Power Adders and a Low slung Tight Stance.

Any Input would be great guys, Thanks, Markus.

I agree. Love the 99 and if you want to go fast you can do a lot. But the 2k2 is wonderful with the 3.5 engine. 2k2 is more expensive though, so thats probly what it finally comes down to right?

I'd get a 98 over a 99 if you can find them with similar mileage.

99's have a few "99 specific" things going on that can make them a PITA. For example, 95-98's all use the same stillen SC kit, 99's are different. Not a big deal, but I could have bought a used kit for $1000 less than I paid for the new kit.

If you do get a 99 or 2k, make sure its FED SPEC...makes modding the exhaust a whole lot easier.
