230 hp Legend GS........
Yeah, with a 6-speed stick, they are pretty darn quick. Unless your Maxima is heavily modded, you better get a good jump on one of those or else you won't pull on it. Luckily, very few of 'em exist. I've come up against only 1.
I ran one a couple months ago in Atlanta
in the twisty section of road going from the Airport to I75 south. I was dead even with him. Couldnt pull on him at all. He couldn't either
But I had to work for it. I was suprised.

what a classic, beautiful car!
I've been looking for one for a while but they're a needle in a haystack. I've test driven one and they're just fantastic to drive. I'd say they pull 14.9's to 15.3s, consistantly.

dude, I don't think your car is 6.8 to 60!
I driven them and I didn't think it was that fast! It's nice but it didn't seem like a 6.8 second ride! Don't go by what magazines have published, many times they are inacurate or impossible to duplicate!

I didn't get it from a magazine. I had a friend ride with me and watch the speedo with a stopwatch. I said go, & he timed. It may not be 100% accurate, but it's pretty close. Other G1 Legend owners have posted lower times (6.6-6.7). From the track in their stock cars. The '95 Legend coupe auto has a o-60 time of 7.2. I raced one and easily beat it.
Take no offense to my previous post man!
Your car is beautiful and I like it alot but I just don't think that if you went to a track with adequate racing conditions, you could post 6.8 second to 60 times, consistantly. I'd say after driving one myself, you'd be pulling low 7's. If you can, you should G-tech your car and find out more accurately what your 60 and 1/4 mile times would be. If you can pull 6.8 on a g-tech rather than having someone sitting in your front seat and timing it, I'd believe that number is definitely attainable. One half second is a huge time span specifically if someone is counting from a stop watch. There are too many flaws with trying to get an accurate time with that method.

I've driven a G1 legend 5-speed also.. And its definately not a 6 sec car. Its nice though.. the same car didn't stand a chance on the highway.. Left him by at least 7 cars.. Thats when all I had was intake.

If I may comment on the
1987 Acura Legend and the Maxima. I have both cars. I have ahd a 1987 Acura Legend and also a 97 MAxima GLE. Both are excellent cars. The 2.5L engine that was present in the 86, 87, 88 sedans had about 158hp and 160lbs of torque. Despite that it was an auto, it was a quick car, even though it was pulling about 3333 lbs. I recall this number since it was so awkward. The coupes might be a few hundred lbs lighter with 4-5 more horses. I have to say that at the time the car came out, with its auto tranny, it probably could do 0-60 in 8 and change seconds. I really don't think even with the 5sp, it can break 7 seconds being that it was a heavy car--thank god for that (I was hit by a bus when my Acura went bye bye.)
The Acura at that time didn't have enough low end torque--but then again, it was an impressive piece of Honda engineering in 1987. And by the way, I know I have an auto and all, but despite that, from a start, the 2.5L legend does have a bit of problem catching up to the 95-99 generation Max. A fairer comparison would be a Max from 1989 to 1994 with the 168hp engine running against the 2.7L Legend coupe. Gotta say I love both. =)

The '87 coupe has a 2.7L engine instead of the 2.5L in the sedan. This adds 10 more hp & 1 more ft/lb of torque. It is also a couple hundred pounds lighter. I raced a '95 Legend w/ 230 horses & an auto tranny & easily beat it. I doubt I can consistently post 0-60 in 6.8 at the track, but as I said before, other owners of the same car have consistently posted upper 6's, and I don't think the stopwatch was very far off if at all. My brother has a '86 auto, & mine is a world of difference in low end power. I know the 230 hp Legend and most later Maximas would walk away from me at the high end, but I can beat most auto's off the line.
No offense to anyone. I love Maximas and Legends.
