Sorry to hear about this Craig, it's most unfortunate. I know you put alot of time and money into your ride, but at least your ok, that's what really matters. As far as cars go I think you've got alot of choices out there, more than just a Camaro. Then again I'm a domestic car hater....lol. Anyway good luck with whatever you do. Please keep us posted on what you get and again glad your ok.

Thanks guys. My neck is feeling a lot better today, so I think I just pulled some muscles. My dad is a retired Navy officer, so we have USAA insurance, and they are good. They said they do total cars with mods, so we'll see how much they offer. I already wrote up a list of all my mods, with references to how much they cost. I also got a reciept from Turbo Tom for the boost work, which was $2500. So I am really hoping that I get comphensated for it.

I have been searching for F-bodies, but finding a black 6spd with low miles is hard to find within my price range. It will probably be an LT1. I definately want the 6spd, manual is too much fun.

I also think it would be cool to get a 2002-2003 6spd Maxima. I mean, it's such a nice car and could be a mixture of speed and luxury for me. So, that could be another option, although doubtfull since its far out of my price range.

I'll be posting my V1 supercharger up for sale as soon as I can get it out of my trunk. My roots blower seems to be in good condition still too, so that may go up for sale too, unless insurence totals my car modded.

Hope it all comes out for the best for you in the future. You should just get another max and swap the stuff out. But I know you like the v8s.

Good luck,

Sorry to hear about the loss. I don't know what I would do if that happens to me. But good luck with the insurance, because they will just give the blue book value of the car if it's totalled. Only way they will give you more is if you added more coverage to cover the extra money you put into the car.

Holy **** man, i cannot freakin believe this! I was absolutely speechless when i saw the thread title, and then your name. Thought maybe it was a sick joke of yours...

I was so looking forward to a ride in that beast, oh well. You need to get every penny and more. With the money that you should get from any injuries sustained, pain/suffering, car, mods, you should have more than enough money to afford realistically what you want. Maybe you can be a pioneer of a roots kit for a 2k3 max

Thats whats sad about the 4th gen max, its worth nearly nothing and people put sooo much into them. Would definately make me think twice about putting 10K+ into another car that isnt worth 10K. Lemme know what the insurance does and keep me updated bro...

I truly feel for you. . . my car doesnt have half the things yours has and I would hate to lose it because of someone elses' mistake, because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But be happy you're okay - thats whats important.

Dang, that's a shame. Hopefully it was the other guy's fault and you can recover some of the stuff you put onto the car. It's bad enough when a car is bone stock as far as how much insurance would give you.

On the way home today I saw a Lexus and a Subaru wagon smashed head-on. It looked like the Lexus was making a left turn, totally his fault. If we had traffic cams in Philly this kind of c*** would eventually drop-off at least a little.

Well, good luck. Just let it go as best you can and move on. Try to be unemotional and be practical instead.

Holy crap, I can't believe it. Craig, I can still remember when we talked about supercharging our cars and 5-speed swaps. It seems like only yesterday your car was stock, and after unbelieveable fabrication, you had the only roots blower on a maxima and were working the kinks out. All the best man, hopefully you'll grab another one and still be doing stuff nobody thought was possible on the max.

Yea Ereet, I remember those days. Looking at the pics, It's sad how devistated I am, cause sometimes I wish I would have gone down with my car. It almost brings tears to my eyes watching the pictures. Is that normal? Becuase I am doing better but I feel like **** whenever I start reflecting on the fact that my pride is gone. I don't play school sports anymore, so aside from going to the gym, this has been my #1 hobby, and my pride.

God this sucks soo much @ssss........everyone please drive carefully.

Count your blessings, man. I agree with 2000JP that the car did right by you, sacrificed itself to protect you...the safety factor is a big issue after all. There are more cars out that need some love. Best of luck.

I was the same way before. I once almost flew down a huge hill but the spare tire carriage under the car caught onto a rock and that prevented the car from dropping something like 50 feet if not more with me in it. I had the car towed up. If that the rock didn't save me I would have a tottaled car and could have died or sustained very bad injurious but like you I was lucky to walk away scratch free. I think you have dedicated too much into the car and have to look for other hobbies or things to take away attention. Girlfriend, fishing, GYM, sports, investing etc... If you are seriously depressed you might want to consider getting anti-depression medication like Zoloft, LexaPro, Valium, Xanax etc... It is hard to lose something or someone (I assume your car has a name) you worked so hard for and what happened you can't change, you can only move foward now. Also, I suggest moving away from the Maxima this car can trigger flashbacks and emotions you don't need. Driving will be harder for the first week or so but it will eventually start getting back to normal. You have our full support.

PS: You don't know me but I read every post since day one on your projects (e.g. roots supercharger)

That blows. My friend totalled his Spec-V in front of me doing almost 100mph after he just got his back from getting his Evo Kit installed and painted as well as getting his dual exhaust done. He didnt even have the car back a full day yet. He was tossed outta the car, but survived

You have PM.

Craig I know it is hard but you really should not be feeling like you wish you would have lost your life in your car. I can tell you a story about an old roomate of mine that is a million times more depressing (your situation would have made him happy.) The accident was not your fault, that is a huge plus, trust me.

Good things will happen, just give it time. You will come away with a better car if that's what you really want, I promise.

Craig I'm sorry to hear about your car. But I'm glad you are ok.
It sucks to put so much in a car. I remember my Ford Probe Gt I put almost 7 grand into it then it gets totalled after I let my friend drive it. I hope you find it in yourself to start playing sports and get motivated. You will have a car again and maybe better. I don't know what your price range is but you can get a 02-03 auto max for 15 grand maybe even find a 6 speed. Goodluck. Hope your neck is feeling better. Peace

Thanks guys. I was just venting how I was feeling when I said I wish I went down with the car. I'm getting a lot better. I am not "depressed", just get sad when I start thinking about it too much. Having a good family and support helps, and all the support here from the .org is a big booster as well. It's good to know that my Max has had an impact, so to speak, on people I never knew it did. To hear you guys, and my friends/peers saying how sweet my car was is bitter-sweet. But I know some of the creativity put into my Max came from me, so whatever car I get next I can dress up just as good.

How good are insurence companies about giving you what your mods are worth? Like, would they give you the value that someone off the street would buy them off you for? Cause if so, then I should be seat for another car easy. If not, then I could be screwed. The Camaros i'm looking at now are in the $8500-$10,000 range.

From what I understand you actually have to tell the insurance company about your mods when you put them in the car. That way they can put them under coverage. Depending on the mod the premium might go up. So if what I said is true it'll be hard to get the stuff paid for unless your insurance company knew you had them...

I talked to an insurance adjuster a while back about the same thing. State Farm I know is good about giving you money for your mods. He said all you have to have is receipts or at the very least pics. You should be fine, I have seen your homepage

Um, I only want to respectfully point out that a car is an inanimate object, it didn't do anything. It doesn't understand loyalty, protection, sacrifice, etc. I guess the reason I bring this point up is that a dude on our softball team had his wife pass away after being married for only 3 mos., at age 27. I was just horrified to hear people tell him it's for the best, the glass is half-full not empty, it was meant to be, etc. There is nothing good about a young person passing away, it's sad.

Imho the first thing that should be addressed is the finances--that was a really nicely modded car. Get the insurance, the other dude's that is, to pay for the loss. It may take some work, many phone calls, insistence, persistence, etc. Then, decide if you want to get something going like this car again. If so, go ahead and do it, and learn from the lesson. Suffering a loss even when it's somebody else's fault still is a lesson that must be accepted in our society. Be practical. And best of luck.
